Meanwhile, Dominic and Cynthia had also arrived in Davenport.
As Dominic stepped off the plane, his complexion was still terrible.
Even though he had been on an IV drip the entire flight, forcing himself to rally, he still looked incredibly frail.
Once they were off the aircraft, Dominic habitually patted his pockets.
They were empty.
"My phone." He glanced sideways at Cynthia.
Cynthia had been staring blankly into the distance. Hearing him speak, she snapped back to reality and handed his phone over.
Dominic took the device and immediately began scrolling through all the unread messages he had missed during the flight.
At his side, Cynthia's hand clenched tightly into a fist.
She felt suffocated, her chest uncomfortably tight as Seraphina's words played on a loop in her mind.
Seraphina had said she would cling to Dominic forever, and Cynthia fully believed a shameless woman like her would actually do it.
Seraphina had been overly proud lately. If she really decided to play the tragic, fragile victim in front of Dominic, Cynthia was certain he would fall for it. She knew him too well.
She couldn't let that happen.
Cynthia pressed her lips into a thin line.
"Dominic..."
"There's something... I need to confess to you, but please don't get mad."
Dominic had just finished skimming his messages—nothing crucial.
Hearing Cynthia's voice, he frowned and turned to look at her.
Cynthia took a deep breath, as if making a tremendously difficult decision.
"While you were sleeping on the plane today, Seraphina called."
