After hiking another long stretch, Seraphina finally paused to check behind them.

The winding trail was completely empty; Dominic and Cynthia were nowhere to be seen.

She stared at the fork in the path ahead, then handed The Tactical Navigator to Tristan, its screen glowing with a GPS signal.

"Tristan, have your men take this device and head down the other trail. Tell them to walk as far as possible, preferably circling all the way around the back."

Tristan raised an eyebrow, instantly understanding her play.

She had jammed the network, leaving everyone entirely dependent on her tracking device for navigation.

By sending the tracker in the opposite direction, she was laying a deliberate trap for the two stragglers.

"You want them lost?"

She nodded.

Gideon had already secured the perimeter around the cabin. Dominic showing up wouldn't add any tactical value whatsoever.

And Cynthia was a ticking time bomb just waiting to pull a stunt. It was much safer to keep them as far away as possible.

Tristan didn't ask questions. He took the device and handed it to one of his men, relaying the orders with a quick nod.

Watching his men disappear into the brush, Seraphina pulled a secondary tracker from her pocket.

This one was smaller, and the screen flickered unsteadily before finally locking onto the signal.

"This one's a bit faulty."

She gripped it tightly. "Perfect. It guarantees they won't be able to track us."

Tristan chuckled inwardly. Dominic, you really shouldn't have messed with her.

He stepped forward, supporting her weight as they pressed on.

The mountain path grew narrower, the thicket of shrubs crowding in on both sides.

They hiked without stopping, navigating a series of sharp bends and cutting through a dense patch of low-hanging trees until the terrain finally opened up.
