Knowing it was pointless to argue, Gideon gently lifted her off the hospital bed and lowered her into a wheelchair.

"Alright. Let's go wait for her."

He rolled her down the sterile corridor until they reached the surgical waiting area.

The red light was still illuminated.

Tristan approached immediately, his eyes lingering on her heavily bandaged leg with a troubled frown.

"Seraphina." Another voice rang out.

She turned to see Zachary sitting on a nearby bench.

"Zach? What are you doing here?"

"With everything you're going through? How could I not be here."

He walked over and crouched beside her chair, his voice cracking slightly. "It's going to be okay. She's going to pull through."

She nodded numbly.

Standing a few feet away was Julian.

"Julian? You're here too?"

Julian nodded. "I called about work, but Mr. Spencer answered and told me what happened. I rushed right over."

He glared at the closed OR doors, his face tightening with disgust. "Where the hell is her father? His kid is fighting for her life, and he's nowhere to be seen? What kind of monster does that?"

"He's taking care of Cynthia," Seraphina replied deadpan.

Julian was appalled. "Are you kidding me? His daughter is bleeding out on an operating table, and he's off babysitting that woman?"

Seraphina offered a cold smirk. "He's always been scum."

Julian practically vibrated with rage.

Finally, he unclenched his fists. "Thank god you dumped him. You're completely free now."

Seraphina paused.

Free.

It hit her like a freight train. She was supposed to finalize her divorce the day Lily went missing.

She had all her paperwork ready, but the kidnapping had completely derailed the appointment.
