"What do you mean I won't get a turn?"

Her voice pitched up. "Don't act so tough! I'm telling you, let alone your kid, even Dominic is going to have to rely on my son in the future! Who do you think you are? A discarded wife with a dying kid—what makes you think you can compete with me?"

The more she spoke, the more agitated she became. Taking a step forward, her gaze swept over the tubes taped to Lily's face before she suddenly reached out.

"Just a useless burden, why waste money keeping her here? Better if she just died!"

Seraphina's pupils constricted.

She grabbed Madeline's wrist, jerking her back violently, and shoved her shoulder with her other hand.

Madeline stumbled back several steps, her high heels skidding frantically against the floor until her back slammed into the wall. The impact drained the color from her face.

"You dare hit me?"

She clutched her shoulder, her eyes wide. "Are you looking for a death wish, Seraphina?"

She lunged forward, aiming a slap at the other woman's face.

Seraphina dodged, grabbed Madeline's arm, drove her knee into the back of her legs, and shoved.

Madeline fell backward, landing hard on the floor. Her designer bag flew across the room, spilling its contents everywhere in a chaotic mess.

She sat there in a disheveled heap, staring in absolute disbelief.

"You! You bitch! You pushed me?"

Seraphina stood over her, staring down with a predatory gaze. "Touch my daughter again, and I'll make sure you're hospitalized longer than she is."

Trembling with rage, Madeline sat on the floor and shrieked at the top of her lungs.

"Assault! Seraphina is attacking me! Everyone, come look! She's out of her mind!"

Seraphina watched the performance without an ounce of emotion, not even blinking.
