Seraphina reached out, wiping the tears from Lily's eyes, and pulled the little girl into her arms for a tight hug.
Sensing the small body in her embrace finally relax, Seraphina let out a soft sigh.
She had so much on her plate—the research projects, running Orca Materials, the strategic layout for NovaPath Systems, and the preparation for The SmartCare Initiative. She couldn't afford to step away from any of it.
But after everything Lily had been through, as long as she could eat well, sleep soundly, and grow up happily, there was still hope.
As her mother, she would watch over her from a distance.
"Mom."
Lily lifted her head from Seraphina's chest, her voice tinged with cautious hope. "Um... if you have time, can you hang out with me? Can you take me somewhere fun?"
Looking into those teary, hopeful eyes, Seraphina's heart softened.
"Of course. Whenever I have free time, I'll spend it with you."
Lily's eyes instantly lit up. Suddenly remembering something, she started counting on her little fingers. "Tomorrow is Saturday! Do you have the day off work?"
Before Seraphina could answer, Lily tilted her head up, eyes sparkling. "Can you take me out to play tomorrow? Just for half a day... no, just for two hours!"
Seraphina paused, looking down at her.
The child had just been discharged from the hospital and hadn't fully recovered. Logically, she shouldn't be running around.
But seeing the tentative longing in Lily's eyes, she couldn't bear to say no.
She thought about it for a second. She already had to visit Dominic's company tomorrow to discuss a partnership anyway.
Since Lily wanted to be with her so badly, she might as well bring her along.
"Tomorrow I have to go to your dad's office for a meeting,"
she said with a gentle smile. "If you want, you can come with me."
Lily froze for a split second before a massive grin spread across her face. "Really? You really mean it?"
"I really mean it."
"Yay!"
Lily ran two laps around Seraphina, her little face flushed with pure joy. "I get to be with Mom! I don't care where we go!"
