"Throughout the entirety of this project, I expect zero involvement from Cynthia Ross. I refuse to have any professional contact with her, at any stage, through any personnel."
Dominic's eyelashes fluttered slightly.
The executives exchanged looks before nodding in frantic agreement.
"Of course, of course. Rest assured, President Sinclair."
"This is strictly a technical endeavor anyway. Ms. Ross has no jurisdiction here."
"Moving forward, we will bypass her entirely for all meetings and procedural updates."
Dominic remained silent for two agonizing seconds before finally giving a stiff nod. "Agreed."
Satisfied, Seraphina lowered her gaze and signed the contract.
A collective sigh of relief washed over the room once again. Several executives exchanged triumphant, barely contained smiles.
Meanwhile, out in the corridor, Cynthia stood just beyond the cracked door, hearing every single word crystal clear.
Her fingers dug painfully into her palms, her eyes burning with pure, unadulterated hatred as she glared at Seraphina through the gap.
Who did she think she was?
But there was nothing she could do. Forced to turn away, she marched down the hallway. Just as she rounded a corner, her footsteps abruptly halted.
The door to the lounge was ajar. Inside, Lily was sitting alone on the plush carpet, a pile of building blocks scattered in front of her.
The little girl kept her head down, carefully stacking the blocks one by one, quiet and well-behaved.
Cynthia stood in the doorway, the turbulent fury in her eyes slowly masking itself.
A sickly-sweet smile curled on her lips before she pushed the door open and stepped inside.
"Lily."
Her voice snapped back into its trademark gentle, cooing tone as she bent down, fixing her gaze on the child.
Lily glanced up, her little face immediately clouding over.
She instinctively scooted away, putting a few more inches of distance between herself and Cynthia.
Pretending not to notice, Cynthia casually took a seat on the adjacent sofa, feigning deep sympathy. "Lily, why are you all alone in here? Is no one playing with you?"
