"What's going on?"

"I think the boss's daughter is crying."

"Hurry, go get Mr. Lockwood!"

In less than a minute, Dominic and Seraphina sprinted to the doorway of the lounge at the exact same time.

The second the door swung open, Lily scrambled up from the carpet and stumbled wildly toward Seraphina.

Her tiny arms clamped around her mother's legs like a vice, burying her tear-streaked face into the fabric of her coat, sobbing so hard she could barely catch her breath.

"Mom... Mom..."

Seraphina dropped to her knees, pulling the trembling girl into a fierce hug. "What's wrong? Take a deep breath and tell me."

Lily lifted her head, two thick trails of tears tracking down her cheeks, and pointed a shaky finger straight at Cynthia. "C-Cynthia... she was yelling at me! Wahhh..."

Seraphina's gaze instantly turned to ice, slicing toward Cynthia with lethal intent.

Cynthia stiffened, instinctively taking a half-step back. "I didn't! She threw water on me out of nowhere! I didn't do anything!"

Desperate, she spun toward Dominic, her eyes turning rimmed with red. "Dominic, I swear, I just came in to check on her, and she suddenly..."

"She's lying!"

Lily peeked out from Seraphina's embrace, cutting her off, and pointed straight at the corner of the ceiling. "The camera! There's a camera right there! Check the video!"

The air in the room instantly crystallized.

Dominic looked up and, sure enough, spotted the security camera mounted in the corner.

When he looked back at Cynthia, all the blood had drained from her face.

Seeing her reaction, Dominic didn't need to ask any more questions.

Cynthia's panic skyrocketed, her hands waving frantically. "No, I didn't mean anything by it! I just said it was a shame the poor child was all alone... That's not a crime!"

Her voice steadily dropped to a desperate murmur. "She really didn't have anyone keeping her company..."

Before Seraphina could rip into her, a voice rang out from the doorway.

"Ms. Ross, I suggest you watch your mouth."
