Seraphina turned to Mr. Zhang and gave him a nod. "Let's begin."
Mr. Zhang eagerly agreed, gesturing for everyone to head deeper into the campus.
Seraphina held Lily's hand as they led the procession.
The moment she had received her massive divorce settlement, she immediately focused her resources here.
She had spent countless hours scouring the internet for rural education charities, comparing them one by one until she finally locked onto this remote village, a place where phone calls rarely even connected.
She transferred the entire construction fund in one lump sum, tasking Mr. Zhang and the local government with managing the project. They were set to build a brand-new academic building, a library, and a cafeteria.
And she did it all under Lily's name.
Since the money came from the Lockwood family, it felt right to spend it in a way that benefited a Lockwood, earning some good karma for her daughter.
Soon, Mr. Zhang led her to the center of a large clearing, rubbing his hands together in sheer, incoherent excitement. "President Sinclair, look! This is where we'll hold the groundbreaking ceremony! Over there is the site for the academic building, the library will be further back, and the cafeteria will be right next to it. Once everything is built, the kids will never have to cram into a leaky classroom again, and they won't have to study on empty stomachs!"
After finishing his speech, Mr. Zhang called out to the kids standing nearby. "Hurry, everyone thank President Sinclair again!"
A dozen children lined up in an instant, their clear voices ringing out. "Thank you, President Sinclair!"
Standing beside her mother, Lily quietly watched the kids. Seeing their threadbare clothes, that strange, uncomfortable feeling in her chest grew even heavier.
Seraphina smiled at them.
"There's no need to thank me. I'm just doing what I can."
With that, she turned back to Mr. Zhang.
"One more thing. I've set up a few supply stations in the surrounding area, primarily stocked with basic necessities. Any student from these neighboring villages can visit and take what they need, every single month."
Mr. Zhang looked stunned. "President Sinclair, that... that must cost a fortune!"
Seraphina waved off his concern. "It's a drop in the bucket. Just make sure it gets used. Let me know if supplies run low; I'll be keeping them stocked long-term."
