The little girl rattled off her menu in one breath, staring up at Seraphina eagerly. "Mom, I ate well, slept well, and studied hard all week. I feel so much stronger now!"

Listening to her adorable, rapid-fire report, Seraphina felt a rush of warmth in her chest.

She reached out and ruffled Lily's hair. "Good job."

Thrilled by the praise, Lily's smile grew even wider.

She snuggled deeper into Seraphina's embrace. "Mom, where are we going? Are you taking me? I really want to go with you."

Seraphina paused.

"Are you absolutely sure you want to come?"

Lily nodded emphatically. "Yes! More than anything!"

"The place I'm going has pretty rough living conditions. We'll have to do a lot of things ourselves. Do you really want to go?"

Seraphina asked again, her gaze completely serious as she studied her daughter's face.

Lily gripped her mother's coat even tighter. "Yes!"

"Wherever you go, I go! If you're not scared of roughing it, neither am I!"

Seraphina let out a low chuckle, offering no further argument.

Dominic finally stepped forward.

He stopped a few feet away, keeping a respectful distance. "Since she's so determined to tag along, let her go with you. I'll pick her up on Sunday."

Seraphina ignored him.

Keeping her eyes on Lily, she adjusted the straps of the little girl's backpack. "Alright, Mom will take you."

Only then did she straighten up, taking Lily's hand and leading her inside the apartment.

This was Lily's first time visiting her mother's place. Sitting on the sofa, she glanced around with wide-eyed curiosity.

Seraphina quickly washed up, changed into fresh clothes, and led Lily back out the door.
