"I will!" Lily replied, yanking out another handful of weeds with unbridled enthusiasm.

Seraphina's smile deepened.

Standing beside her, Mr. Zhang rubbed his hands together. "President Sinclair, perhaps you should take Lily over there to rest..."

Seraphina shook her head. "No need. It's good for her to learn the value of hard work."

Just then, a worker pushed a wheelbarrow past her. Without hesitating, she stepped in and helped him shove it up the incline.

The entire construction site was buzzing with activity. The adults were hauling building materials and laying the foundation, while the children squatted in a row across the clearing, pulling weeds.

Laughter and shouts blended together, creating a chaotic yet heartwarming scene.

After working for a while, Lily's gloves were caked in mud, and the hem of her dress bore several dusty streaks.

She squatted on the ground, catching her breath. Just as she was about to move to another spot, a crisp voice rang out behind her.

Phoebe jumped out of a newly parked car and sprinted toward her.

Lily dropped the handful of grass and ran to meet her.

The two little girls collided in the middle of the clearing. Phoebe grabbed Lily's hand, looking her up and down. "What happened to you? Look at your dress, it's so dirty!"

Lily glanced down at her mud-stained dress and flashed a wide grin. "I'm working! We're helping the school pull weeds!"

Phoebe looked around at the bustling scene. "I want to help too!"

She let go of Lily's hand and shouted back toward the car, "Gideon! I'm going to help out!"

By the car, Gideon was pulling things from the trunk. He glanced up, saw Phoebe and Lily standing hand in hand, and smiled.

"Stay safe."
