Seraphina didn't think much of it and stepped closer. "Road construction? Streetlights?"

"Yeah."

Gideon was the first to speak. "The road conditions around these villages are terrible. The kids can't even walk to school when it rains. I had my team draw up a comprehensive plan to pave the entire stretch from the village entrance to the school, and then extend it outward."

Ethan leisurely chimed in, "Well, once the road is paved, it won't do much good without lights at night. I coordinated with the manufacturer to donate a batch of solar-powered streetlights. They come with energy storage units, so they'll work even on rainy days. It'll make the kids' morning commute much safer in the winter."

Seraphina was slightly taken aback.

She knew they were both involved in charity work, but she hadn't expected them to be so meticulous.

She smiled. "That's wonderful. I'm here for the new teaching building and the cafeteria. With your roads and streetlights, the conditions at this school will improve drastically. It'll be so much easier for the kids."

Mid-sentence, her gaze drifted past them to the nearby clearing.

Phoebe and Lily were squatting on the ground, each yanking out handfuls of weeds, while a few local kids surrounded them, eagerly offering instructions.

Gideon followed her gaze, his expression involuntarily softening.

Seraphina looked away with a laugh and turned back toward her car. "I'm going to grab some water for them. They'll need it when they're done."

"I'll help you."

"Let me do it."

Gideon and Ethan stepped forward at the exact same time.

They flanked Seraphina, one on the left, one on the right, neither willing to yield.

Seraphina glanced between them, finally unable to hold back a laugh. "Why are you two so in sync today?"

Gideon said nothing, merely shooting Ethan a cool glance.

Ethan offered a breezy smile. "Maybe it's because great minds think alike."
