Unloved Unwanted Unstoppable (Seraphina and Dominic) novel Chapter 388

There was a large kitchen area with a brick stove, and beside it sat a pile of fresh vegetables and potatoes that had been harvested from the fields that morning.

Seraphina walked over to inspect them. The produce was fresh, but it was all very basic. If they wanted to eat, they had to prep everything themselves.

She rolled up her sleeves and glanced back at Lily and Phoebe, who were trailing behind her.

"Do you two want to help?"

Lily immediately raised her hand. "Yes!"

Phoebe nodded enthusiastically. "Me too!"

Seraphina pointed to a large basket of greens by the stove. "Then you two are in charge of prepping the vegetables. Pluck off the yellow leaves, snap off the roots, and put the good parts in this bowl."

The two little girls dragged over two small wooden stools and sat side by side under the eaves, the basket and two empty bowls placed in front of them.

Lily pushed up her sleeves, mimicking how she'd seen Seraphina do it, and grabbed a handful of greens. She started plucking away the yellow leaves with utmost concentration.

Seraphina stood by the stove chopping ingredients. When she tossed the sliced cured meat into the wok, the hot oil sizzled, filling the room with a mouthwatering aroma.

Lily twitched her nose. "Smells so good."

Phoebe sniffed the air aggressively. "It smells like meat!"

The two girls exchanged a look, and the speed at which they processed the vegetables visibly increased.

For a while, their two tiny figures darted back and forth between the kitchen and the main room, their short legs moving in a blur. Seraphina couldn't even get them to slow down.

Soon, Seraphina brought the final dish to the table. It was a spread of simple, home-style cooking.

Lily stared at the feast, swallowing hard.

Taking a seat across from them, Seraphina watched the two girls bury their faces in their bowls, happily shoveling rice into their mouths. She reached out and pushed the soup bowls closer to them.
