Gideon had arrived at some point.

He stood right beside Dominic, his expression dangerously dark, extending his hand toward Seraphina in the water.

Two men, one on the left, one on the right, reaching out at the same time.

Without hesitation, Seraphina grabbed Gideon's hand.

Gideon's grip tightened abruptly, hauling her out of the water.

Dominic's hand hung suspended in the air before he quietly pulled it back.

"Mom!" Lily threw herself forward, wrapping her arms tightly around Seraphina's legs, crying uncontrollably. "Mom, please be okay! Please don't be hurt..."

Seraphina gently stroked her daughter's face. "Mom is fine, Lily. Don't cry."

"You're all wet..." Lily sniffled. "Are you cold, Mom? Let me hug you."

Seraphina pulled her daughter into her arms.

Dominic stood off to the side. "What happened? Why were you in the river?"

Seraphina looked up, glancing at Dominic before turning to Gideon. "I saw Owen."

Dominic's brow furrowed heavily.

"He was right here. He almost got hit by a truck, so I pushed him out of the way. He ran, and I chased him into the river, but I lost him."

Gideon's hand clenched into a fist.

"My men just found out Owen snuck back into the country," Gideon's voice was sharp as ice. "I didn't expect him to be bold enough to show up here."

"Owen has ties to Drake Briggs and Corvus. He normally operates overseas and doesn't come back easily. The fact that he was smuggled back in under a fake identity means whoever is pulling his strings is getting desperate."

He glanced at Seraphina. "We'll intensify the search without alarming them. I'll assign more men to ensure the safety of you and your family."

Seraphina nodded, her voice sincere. "Thank you."

"I'll send people too," Dominic interjected instantly. "I'll post security at your mom's diner and your brother's factory."

Seraphina glared at him but said nothing.
