Seraphina glanced back briefly before looking away, her tone completely indifferent. "She probably doesn't dare come over and humiliate herself."
Chelsea scoffed. "True. We bought our apartments with our own money. Hers was handed to her. If she dares come over here, I'll absolutely destroy her."
Seraphina frowned slightly. "Alright, let's drop it. Enough about her."
Chelsea caught sight of Lily, immediately zipped her lips, and offered a graceful smile.
She had to maintain a good image in front of the kid, after all.
The three of them walked into the lobby, and the heavy doors clicked shut behind them.
Cynthia remained standing where she was, her eyes practically drilling holes into those closed doors.
Watching them leave, she angrily yanked out her phone, found the unsaved number, and dialed it once more.
It rang twice before connecting.
Cynthia's voice was sharp enough to cut glass. "Owen, we can start the plan!"
Over the next few days, Seraphina's life settled back into a peaceful routine.
Work, cooking, and taking care of Lily.
It was a simple, quiet life.
That was until one evening when she had just brought Lily home from school.
The doorbell rang.
She opened the door to find Beatrice standing there, clutching an insulated food container.
"Seraphina, bring Lily over for dinner."
Seraphina was slightly caught off guard. "Beatrice, what brings you here?"
"Eating alone is entirely too boring."
Seraphina tried to decline politely. "You don't need to go through all this trouble. I've already prepared food here."
Beatrice instantly put on a stern face. "If you don't come, I won't eat. It was fine when we lived far apart, but now we're in the same complex. If you refuse to eat with me, I simply won't have an appetite."
Seraphina opened her mouth to argue, but Beatrice directly took Lily's hand. "Come on, Lily. Great-grandma Beatrice made soup for you."
Lily looked up at Seraphina for permission.
Helpless, Seraphina had no choice but to follow them.
At the dining table, Beatrice constantly piled food onto Seraphina's plate.
"You're far too skinny. Eat more."
"Beatrice, please, you really don't have to keep serving me," Seraphina protested gently.
