"Take what's yours," Seraphina said flatly. "One share each."

Dominic frowned. "Why are you calculating this so clearly?"

Seraphina shoved the cash into his hand and pulled back. "I take what belongs to me. I don't want what doesn't."

Dominic gripped the stack of bills, watching as she turned around to take Lily's hand.

He remained silent for a few seconds before asking, "Let's grab dinner together."

Seraphina didn't even turn her head. "No."

Dominic looked down at Lily. "Lily, want to go get food with Dad?"

Lily clung to Seraphina's hand and shook her head. "I want to eat with Mom."

Dominic stood rooted to the spot, watching the mother and daughter walk away. He let out a helpless sigh.

Since the beach was far from Northport, they didn't drive back that day and stayed overnight at a nearby hotel.

Early the next morning, Seraphina drove Lily back to Northport.

Dominic's car trailed right behind them, following them all the way to the gates of Laurel Heights.

Dominic stepped out, walked around to the trunk, and reached out to help Seraphina grab her luggage.

Seraphina sidestepped his hand and pulled her suitcase out herself. "I've got it."

Dominic's hand hovered in midair. Just as he was about to pull it back, a bright voice called out from behind them.

"Seraphina!"

Chelsea hurried out of the building, smiling as she took the suitcase from Seraphina's hand. "You're finally back! I've been waiting forever."

Lily tilted her head up and yelled, "Chelsea!"

Chelsea bent down and pinched her cheek. "Look at you, being so good. Was the cycling race fun?"

"Super fun! Mom got first place!"
