The damning files were projected onto the screen one by one.
Embezzlement, cooked books, secretly diverted project funds, kickbacks...
Every single charge corresponded to the name of a board member sitting in the room.
Everyone's face drained of color.
"Mr. Lockwood, this... this is a misunderstanding."
"Yes, exactly, it's all a misunderstanding. We were misled."
"Mr. Lockwood, considering how many years we've been with Lockwood's..."
Dominic gave them a look, his gaze entirely detached.
"Now you want to talk about loyalty?"
A chorus of desperate pleas filled the conference room.
Dominic raised a hand, and the room instantly fell dead silent.
He scoffed, his voice devoid of any warmth.
"You have two choices."
"First, spit out everything you've swallowed over the years, with interest. Hand over your shares, and get the hell out of The Lockwood Group."
"Second, I send you to prison, and you can slowly pay it back from behind bars."
The board members' legs turned to jelly. Ultimately, every single one of them chose the first option.
The lawyers stepped forward, placing the prepared agreements onto the table one by one.
After signing their names and handing over the share transfer documents, the disgraced shareholders trudged out in defeat.
The conference room fell into complete silence.
Dominic leaned back in his chair, his expression as indifferent as ever.
His phone suddenly lit up on the table.
He picked it up. A new message flashed on the screen.
"Dominic, I'm pregnant..."
Sender: Cynthia Ross.
Dominic stared at that line of text, his gaze turning incredibly somber.
Over at Laurel Heights.
Cynthia sat on the couch, gripping her phone as her eyes grew colder by the second.
Owen Hamilton was a useless pawn now.
But she couldn't afford to fall. She still needed to keep her grip on Dominic.
A baby would be her ultimate leverage.
She turned to look at the coffee table, where a bank card lay.
It was the last thing Owen had left her.
Inside was three million dollars.
She reached out, picked up the card, and clutched it in her palm.
