Right then, Chelsea's phone buzzed.
She glanced down, then shoved the screen toward Seraphina. "Seraphina, look at this."
Seraphina leaned in.
On the screen was a digital invitation from Ross Healthcare, flaunting grand, gold-embossed lettering.
"Next month is Ross Healthcare's anniversary gala, inviting industry leaders across all sectors."
Chelsea scrolled down and read aloud, "During the event, a long-term strategic partnership with The Lockwood Group will be announced, featuring deep collaboration in renewable energy and artificial intelligence."
Seraphina frowned slightly after reading it.
Chelsea watched her reaction and raised an eyebrow.
"This is a public declaration that Ross Healthcare is officially under The Lockwood Group's protection."
Seraphina's expression returned to its usual indifference.
"It has nothing to do with me."
Chelsea scoffed.
"I didn't realize Dominic was so whipped."
"Cynthia has done every despicable thing in the book, and he's still acting as her safety net."
"He's completely lost his mind for love."
Seraphina gave a faint smile and continued putting food on Lily's plate.
"Then I hope they deserve each other forever."
Chelsea laughed out loud, dropping the subject and moving on to other gossip.
Life returned to normal, slipping by in a quiet, peaceful routine.
...
A few days later, Cynthia arrived at The Lockwood Group's headquarters carrying a lunchbox.
She strolled confidently through the lobby.
The receptionists spotted her and immediately bowed their heads. "Ms. Ross."
Cynthia ignored them, heading straight for the security gates.
The facial recognition system chimed, and the turnstile opened.
A smug smile touched her lips, and her steps grew even more arrogant.
The private elevator took her straight to the top floor.
When the doors parted, Cynthia made her way toward the executive office.
Along the corridor, everyone who saw her immediately stepped aside.
Finally, she was getting the royal treatment again. The feeling was intoxicating.
Cynthia kept her gaze forward, stopping at the heavy oak door and pushing it open without knocking.
