Dominic didn't snap back defensively like he used to, nor did he find her overbearing.
He simply looked at her.
"I'll remember that."
His voice softened slightly. "Once the first flawless unit of the second-generation carebot is ready, I'll give it to Lily."
At the mention of Lily, Seraphina's eyelashes trembled slightly.
Dominic continued, "Her care is the most important."
The low hum of machinery filled the factory floor as lines of data continued scrolling across the monitors.
Seraphina pursed her lips and replied coolly, "Don't let her use it until the product is fully certified."
Dominic stared at her elegant, detached profile, his Adam's apple bobbing.
"Alright."
Seraphina didn't look back at him, turning her attention back to verify the final data sets.
Dominic stood behind her, remaining silent for a long time.
By the time they finished at the factory and returned to the launch venue, the first half of the presentations was wrapping up.
The grand hall was brilliantly lit, camera flashes still erupting from the press area, while the Lockwood staff efficiently guided guests toward the banquet hall.
When Seraphina walked through the doors, her composure was fully restored.
She walked beside Dominic, still holding the data sheets she had hastily marked up at the factory.
Dominic glanced at her sideways. Seeing her still analyzing the details even after re-entering the event, that inexplicable, complicated ache surfaced in his chest again.
How had he ever believed she was just an incompetent housewife?
Watching her shine in her professional element, she was so dazzling it was hard to look away.
Before long, Gideon arrived.
He was dressed in a dark, impeccably tailored suit. His features were sharp and cool, exuding a natural, untouchable distance.
He was attending as the representative of the core material supplier for the new robots. Yet the moment he entered, he bypassed the Lockwood executives entirely, his gaze scanning the room before locking onto Seraphina and walking straight toward her.
