She tugged at Dominic's sleeve. "Forget it, Dominic. I don't want to make a scene. Let's just go inside."

The outdoor gear section was on the fourth floor. She took the elevator straight up and picked out a well-fitting pair of hiking boots and a breathable, moisture-wicking outfit for herself. Then, she selected a small pair of hiking shoes and a lightweight windbreaker for Lily.

The saleswoman enthusiastically asked if she wanted to look at the men's collection.

Seraphina didn't even look up. "No need."

She swiped her card, grabbed the shopping bags, and walked out of the mall.

The night breeze hit her face. The skin on her wrist where the wine had splashed still felt slightly sticky. She furrowed her brow, wanting nothing more than to rush home and take a shower.

As for that jerk, he could buy his own stuff or go without. Right now, she had absolutely no desire to go on this trip with him.

Seraphina carried her shopping bags out of the mall, tossed them onto the backseat of her car, slid into the driver's seat, started the engine, and drove straight home.

After getting out, she neatly arranged the new hiking boots and windbreaker by the entryway. She double-checked Lily's little backpack, confirming everything was packed, and then headed back to her room to lie down.

"I will go hiking with you both tomorrow."

Seraphina took one glance, flipped the phone over, and slammed it face down on the nightstand.

She wasn't going to reply.
