Two days passed in the blink of an eye.
Seraphina Sinclair arrived at the hotel right on time.
Just as she reached the lobby entrance, her footsteps faltered.
Cynthia Ross stood by the elevators, dressed in a sharp white skirt suit and wearing flawless makeup. She was staring down at her phone, her expression dark and brooding.
Seraphina furrowed her brows.
Naturally, she had no intention of greeting the woman. She was about to turn the corner when another figure caught her eye.
Harvey Jameson hurried through the revolving doors. He looked around anxiously, his tie half-undone and his face pale.
Once he made sure no one was watching, he made a beeline straight for Cynthia.
Seraphina paused again, but before she could think too much about it, Bella Bennett called.
Seraphina answered.
"Professor Sinclair, are you here?"
"I'm here."
"I'll wait for you by the escalator on the second floor."
Seraphina ended the call. The elevator doors slid open, and she stepped inside, hitting the button for the second floor.
Bella was already waiting by the escalator.
She wore a light blue dress today, her hair pulled back into a loose, relaxed bun. It made her look much softer and more approachable than she had in the restaurant the other day.
Seeing Seraphina, her eyes curved into a warm smile as she walked over.
"Professor Sinclair."
Seraphina nodded, opening her mouth to speak.
She wanted to mention that she had just seen Harvey and Cynthia downstairs, but before the words could leave her lips, Bella spoke first.
"Nothing is more important right now than signing this contract."
Bella gestured casually for her to walk down the corridor, her tone light.
"Come on, let's get the paperwork out of the way."
Seraphina glanced at her.
Bella looked completely unbothered, though there was a knowing little curve to her lips.
Something clicked in Seraphina's mind, and she swallowed the words she had been about to say.
It seemed Bella already knew exactly what Harvey was up to.
They entered the conference room. Two copies of the contract sat on the table, right next to two steaming cups of freshly brewed coffee.
