Cynthia choked on her words.

Seraphina tossed the paper towel into the trash, her tone entirely indifferent. "Are you done? Move out of my way if you are. I don't have time to relive the past with you."

Seeing that she wasn't even the slightest bit angry, Cynthia's face turned horribly sour.

She gritted her teeth, but quickly remembered something else and stood tall once more.

"Oh, I forgot to tell you—I'm going to be Mrs. Zane very soon."

Seraphina finally showed a reaction.

She raised an eyebrow, her gaze lingering on Cynthia's face for a brief second. "Are you absolutely sure you can marry into the Zane family?"

Cynthia's expression shifted drastically.

"What's that supposed to mean? You saw how perfectly Felix treats me out there, didn't you?"

She spoke with unwavering confidence. "He told me himself that I'm the only woman he'll ever marry! Besides, he's the heir to The Zane Group. Everything is going to be under his control eventually. Who could possibly stop him?"

As she spoke, the sheer smugness in her eyes intensified.

"Besides, if you hadn't barged your way in back then, Dominic and I would have been married ages ago. You never would have had a chance."

"But it's fine now. Felix dotes on me unconditionally. Whatever I want, he buys it for me. I doubt you'll ever get to experience what it's like for a man to treat you like a queen!"

Seraphina was losing her patience and was just about to leave when a thought crossed her mind, making her stop in her tracks.

"So, by that logic, Felix must be absolutely loaded, right?"

Cynthia assumed she was finally jealous and quickly retorted, "Obviously! Do you have any idea how powerful the Zane family is?"
