She stared at the items in his hands, her eyes flashing with undisguised disgust.

"Anything you've touched makes me feel sick."

The blood drained completely from Dominic's face.

His hand hovered in mid-air, awkwardly suspended between offering and withdrawing.

Refusing to waste another second on him, Seraphina grabbed Bella's arm and turned to leave.

"Seraphina!"

Dominic finally called out, unable to mask the desperate edge in his voice.

"Can you just give me one more chance?"

Seraphina stopped in her tracks and looked back at him.

Dominic tightened his grip on the water bottle, his eyes reddening.

"I know I was awful to you, but so much of it was because Cynthia manipulated me. I know exactly what kind of monster she is now. I will never trust her again, and I swear I'll never let anyone hurt you."

He took a ragged breath, forcing the words out. "Seraphina, I truly want to make amends. If you can just find it in your heart to forgive me, I swear I will spend the rest of my life treating you right."

Seraphina just found the entire speech pathetic.

"Dominic, do you honestly believe that as long as you pin all the blame on Cynthia Ross, your own sins are magically wiped clean?"

Dominic's expression faltered.

"That's not what I meant..."

"Then what did you mean?"

Seraphina glared at him.

"Cynthia lied to you, so that gave you the right to blindly humiliate me? She whispered a few lies, so you automatically decided I was a malicious bitch? She played the victim, so you thought it was perfectly acceptable to trample on the woman you married?"

The more she spoke, the more ridiculous it felt.

"Were you really just tricked, Dominic? Or are you just inherently stupid, cruel, and profoundly selfish!"
