Seraphina cut him off without a shred of mercy.

"I don't need your compensation, and I certainly don't need your protection. Dominic, looking at you makes me physically sick."

Dominic turned ashen.

His lips trembled as he forced the words out.

"Seraphina, we were together for six years. Is there truly no chance to save us?"

As he spoke, he unconsciously took a step forward.

Seraphina's eyes turned lethal. She shoved the umbrella hilt violently forward.

The sharp metal tip grazed Dominic's chest, tearing through his expensive shirt and leaving a shallow, bloody scratch across his skin.

Dominic let out a muffled groan, but he didn't dodge.

He glanced down at his bleeding chest, then looked back up at her, utterly devastated.

"Do you... really hate me that much?"

Seraphina gripped the handle tighter, her voice dropping to absolute zero.

"Yes."

"For the sake of another woman, you humiliated me, tortured me, and watched me almost die without batting an eye. And now, you think a simple apology means I'm going to run back into your arms?"

She held his gaze, delivering her final verdict.

"Let me spell it out for you. Never."

"Not in a million years. Never in this lifetime will I forgive you."

Dominic shook violently.

Her words were a serrated knife, twisting ruthlessly into his heart.

He opened his mouth, desperate to beg, but a large, well-defined hand suddenly reached out and wrapped over Seraphina's white-knuckled grip on the umbrella.

"Seraphina, let go."

Gideon's low voice sounded right beside her.

Seraphina blinked, the haze of fury breaking.

Gideon's eyes held a flicker of deep ache for her. "A man like this isn't worth your anger."

He gently slipped the umbrella from her grasp, stepping forward to completely shield her behind his tall frame.

Without warning, Gideon shoved Dominic hard in the chest.

Caught off guard, Dominic stumbled back several feet.
