Seraphina picked up the photograph, her fingertips lightly tracing the older girl's face.

"Nora..."

She whispered the name, her eyes instantly brimming with uncontrollable tears.

Seraphina had been so little back then.

"Let her go!"

Sobbing, Nora threw herself at the man, clawing and pushing, only to be backhanded viciously across the room.

Seeing the man turn his full attention back to Seraphina, Nora panicked. Blinded by desperation, she grabbed a fruit knife from the desk and charged at him with a feral scream.

"I said let her go!"

The blade sank deep into the man's side.

Blood instantly bloomed across his shirt.

Nora went deathly pale, the knife clattering to the floor.
