Unloved Unwanted Unstoppable (Seraphina and Dominic) novel Chapter 70

Professor Vane walked up to her, looking her up and down. "You've lost weight, but you look sharp."

Seraphina sniffled, fighting back the moisture in her eyes.

Professor Vane's gaze swept over Dominic and Cynthia, but he didn't ask any questions. He merely retracted his gaze and patted Seraphina's shoulder.

"Come, let's head over there."

Julian walked up as well, standing firmly beside Seraphina, intentionally blocking Dominic's line of sight.

"Sera, let's go. The private room is ready."

Seraphina nodded, walked over to her booth to grab her bag and tablet, and didn't spare Dominic another glance.

She followed Professor Vane and Julian, turning her back and walking away.

Dominic stood frozen in place, watching her retreating figure, his frown growing deeper and tighter.

Cynthia's gaze was also glued to that fading silhouette.

Her gentle, considerate mask completely dissolved, exposing the cold, ruthless face underneath.

Professor Vane.

She couldn't be mistaken.

She had seen that face in countless academic journals and news reports.

Professor Vane, the top figure in the domestic scientific research community.

Fifteen years ago, he led a team to crack a world-class conundrum in renewable energy R&D, taking home the highest international honor in the field.

To this day, no one in the country had ever surpassed that award, and no one had ever replicated his success.

His name was practically etched into textbooks.

During her college years, Cynthia had pulled every string she had to investigate Professor Vane's research group. She even had Alistair Lennox drop an exorbitant amount of money to grease palms, trying absolutely everything to become his student.

She had it all figured out back then: as long as she could get under Professor Vane's wing, she wouldn't even need the Lockwood family or the Lennox family; her future would be blindingly bright.

Cynthia violently snapped back to reality, the malice on her face vanishing instantly without a trace.

She spun around, flashing Dominic a warm smile. "Dominic, didn't you say your ex-wife... didn't you say she was just a stay-at-home mom this whole time? How does she know such important people?"

Her tone was casual, sounding like a passing curiosity.

Dominic's eyes darkened.

He glanced toward the end of the corridor. Seraphina had long disappeared around the corner, but the temperature in his eyes dropped even lower.

Cynthia noticed the fleeting flash of ice in his gaze, and the corners of her lips curled up slightly.

Just then, two waiters walked past them carrying trays, chatting in hushed voices.

"Did you see? That woman sitting in the booth over there was gorgeous."

"Which one?"

"The one in the smoke-gray blazer, with the long hair and the luminous skin."
