A moment later, she leaned in close to Dominic, keeping her voice low.
"Hamilton's really didn't send anyone. The rest of these competitors aren't even in the same league as us."
Cynthia's lips curved upward. "It looks like this partnership is ours, Dominic."
Dominic's lips quirked slightly, but he didn't reply.
His gaze swept across the hall, brushing past the faces without lingering on a single one.
He stood with his hands in his pockets, his posture relaxed, yet radiating an unspoken, absolute certainty.
Seeing that it was almost time, the attendees outside began taking their seats.
The Zenith Energy team prepared to make their entrance.
Seraphina adjusted her cuffs and followed the others out.
Her eyes locked onto the front row, reserved specifically for Zenith Energy.
And her seat was right in the absolute center—the spotlight position.
Today, she wasn't someone's wife, she wasn't someone's mother, and she wasn't the woman who "should just cook because she's useless."
She was the absolute lead of Zenith Energy's project, the rising star the entire industry had been dying to meet.
She stopped in front of the center seat, turned around, and faced the packed audience.
The hall went dead silent for a second. Then, it erupted.
"Who is she?"
"Sitting there... is she the project lead for Zenith?"
"She's that young?"
"Wait, I heard the rising star was a core member of Professor Vane's team. A researcher? How is she so young?"
Whispers surged through the crowd, every single pair of eyes pinned on Seraphina.
Seraphina took her seat, completely unfazed. She flipped open the file in front of her as if the stares and murmurs had absolutely nothing to do with her.
His brow furrowed tightly, the usual cold indifference in his eyes fracturing completely.
Beside him, Cynthia abruptly shot up from her seat.
Her eyes were practically nailed to Seraphina, her pupils dilated, her lips parting as if trying to speak but choking on her words.
She looked terrible, her mouth pressed into a hard line, her fingers gripping the edge of the table until her knuckles turned white.
Impossible. How could it be her?
How could Seraphina be sitting in that seat?
Back at the cultural center, she had personally seen Seraphina running around in plain clothes like a waitress. Although Professor Vane had spoken to her, it had looked like simple pleasantries.
But today, she was sitting dead center for Zenith Energy.
Zenith Energy—the place she had exhausted every resource just to get an invitation to—and there was Seraphina, sitting at the head of the table, the absolute center of attention.
