Rosalie glanced at Henry, only getting up to leave when Henry nodded.
Only Luciana and Henry were left in the hospital room.
“Why is Rosalie here? You know I don’t like her.”
Luciana sat down in the chair, gently taking Henry’s hand and getting straight to the point.
Henry could feel her soft skin, which was as smooth as silk. He didn’t pull away from her touch but merely responded calmly, “If you don’t like it, we can get a divorce.”
“Why do you keep bringing up divorce? I didn’t cheat on you. Why don’t you believe me?”
Luciana was unhappy and angrily pulled her hand away.
“Then just leave me alone. I’m paralyzed now and can’t take care of myself. I need someone’s help to do simple things like the laundry, cooking, even getting a drink for myself or getting around.”
Luciana answered, “I’ll get a caregiver or a nurse. We’ll get a few of them, and they can work around the clock.”
Henry shook his head, his gaze meeting hers. “Have you considered the fact that the next time someone comes after me, I probably won’t survive? A caregiver? A nurse? No. I only trust Rosalie. Only she won’t hurt me.”
Luciana felt a sour aftertaste and said, “I’m your wife. Don’t you trust me?”
“Of course I do,” Henry said.
He smiled and continued, “Quit your job and take care of my meals and my leg massages. We’ll stick together the whole day. What do you think about that?”
“…”
Luciana hesitated, her lips moving but no words leaving her lips.
Seeing her reaction, Henry shook his head in disappointment. “Enough. Go home. I want to rest.”
Outside the hospital room, Rosalie leaned against the window and looked up at the sky, lost in her thoughts.
Luciana walked up from behind her and said coldly, “You’re resilient, I’ll give you that. You come running to him the moment he calls. I’m sure you know that he’s married, yet you don’t plan on giving up. Are you so insistent on becoming the other woman?”
Rosalie was slightly taller than Luciana, so she lowered her head to look at Luciana. She answered calmly, “As long as he needs me,
I’ll be there.”
Rosalie chuckled. “Whatever you say. But I won’t let anyone hurt him. That includes you.”
Hearing this, Luciana felt her chest tighten. It was almost as if Henry and Rosalie were the real couple, and she was merely an outsider.
Filled with anger, Luciana’s eyes reddened. She could no longer hold herself back and pushed open the door to Henry’s room.
“Henry, are you just going to let her talk to me like this? Is she the reason you want a divorce? If you tell me you love her and want to marry her, I’ll grant your wish and divorce you right now.” Luciana stormed toward Henry’s bed, her eyes shining with tears but her voice firm and steady.
Henry had no idea what they had been talking about outside. “What does our divorce have to do with Rosalie? It’s all because of the mess you created. You’re the one who has had a change of heart, so don’t try to turn this around.”
“Fine!”
Luciana gritted her teeth. “I can’t get rid of her. You want her to stay and take care of you? Fine, I’ll accept that! But we’re still married. Don’t you dare cheat on me, or I’ll make sure I do the same to you!”
Henry sneered, “Maybe you already have?”
