Vengeful Billionaire and His Lovers (Jerome Howard) novel Chapter 9

Luciana left in a rush, like she was fleeing from something. It was as if the truth had just caught up with her, and she couldn’t face

Henry felt a pain so sharp that it felt like his heart was being ripped out. When he confronted her, he had secretly hoped she’d fight back, explain herself, and deny it somehow.

But she didn’t.

So this is what love is?

At that moment, Henry hit rock bottom.

His legs were ruined, his wife betrayed him, and every blow left him feeling hollow inside.

Hands shaking, he grabbed his phone and dialed a number he hadn’t called in two years.

It rang for only a second before a familiar voice answered, soft and slightly hoarse. “Henry, is that you?”

Henry couldn’t hold it in anymore. Tears ran down his face as he choked out, “Rosalie, I… I miss you.”

Without hesitation, she said, “Where are you? I’ll come to you.”

He gave her the hospital address, and she hung up right away. He let out a deep breath. Two years apart had made his longing for Rosalie unbearable.

Twenty years ago, Henry was nine, and Rosalie was ten. A lot had happened that year.

Henry’s parents were farmers, and Rosalie’s family was rich and city-born.

They shouldn’t have crossed paths, but fate had other plans.

One day, while Henry was in the woods trying to catch birds, he stumbled across a murder scene. Hiding behind a tree, he saw a couple being killed right before his eyes. For a nine-year-old, it was terrifying.

As he turned to run, he noticed a little girl curled up under a tree, trembling and tear-streaked.

When she saw Henry, she trembled and whispered, “I… I’m scared.”

Just then, the killer started looking through the woods. They wanted to search for her and kill her.

Henry stayed and told the girl, “Don’t be afraid. I’ll distract them. You run to the village and get help from the police.”

After that, he bravely stepped out, made some noise in another direction, and drew the killer away. Using his knowledge of the area, he escaped by jumping into the river.

A few days later, he saw the girl again.

She was filthy, said her name was Rosalie, and had no family left. Shyly, she asked if she could stay with him.

Henry’s mother took her in immediately, bathed her, and was stunned by her beauty. “Sweetheart, if you don’t mind, this is your home now. Henry is your little brother.”

Just like that, Henry gained an older sister, and life seemed brighter.

But happiness didn’t last. Six months later, a flood hit, sweeping Rosalie away.

At that moment, Henry’s parents, safe on the shore, didn’t hesitate to plunge into the raging water. Tied together with a rope, they managed to pull Rosalie to safety.

But Henry’s mother was exhausted and got swept away by the current. Right then, the rope around her waist snapped for no reason. In seconds, she was gone, swallowed by the rushing water.

Henry’s father said, “Rosalie, Henry is your little brother. You have to look after him from now on.”

Even though he was drained, he dove in to try to save his wife.

When the waters calmed, he found her. They had died together, holding each other tightly.

Not long after, the authorities sent Rosalie and Henry to an orphanage. From that day on, all they had was each other.

Rosalie grew quiet. Her world turned dark, except for Henry, who became her only light. She promised herself that her life would be for him and nothing else.

Henry did well in school, but Rosalie was even better.

When exams came, she took first place in the whole school, and he was second.

The next day, she dropped out. She said that since Henry was studying, she would learn to fight. For over ten years, she trained in fighting skills with the orphanage director.

After that, nobody dared to bully Henry. Rosalie wouldn’t let anyone hurt him.

Later, Henry went to university, met Luciana, and eventually married her.

But after the wedding, Luciana found out about Rosalie. She got jealous of that woman, who was just as pretty and cared for Henry like he was her whole world.

Smack! Smack! Smack!

Out of nowhere, Rosalie started slapping herself over and over.

Henry panicked and grabbed her hands. “Rosalie, stop! What are you doing?”

“It’s all my fault. I didn’t protect you. I deserve this,” she cried, full of guilt. Seeing him hurt like that made her feel like she should take his place.

Without thinking, he pulled her into his arms and held her close. He whispered, “Don’t cry. Stop thinking about dying-who would take care of me if you weren’t here? And I still have to get revenge!”

“Right! Revenge!”

Rosalie shot up furiously. “Who did this to you? I’ll kill them!”

The intensity in her eyes made Henry’s heart skip a beat.

Rosalie was nothing like Luciana. She didn’t care about thinking things through. Henry was her everything. If anyone hurt him, she’d destroy them. She never let things slide and always got her revenge 100 times over.

That was why Henry couldn’t let her go after revenge right away. She’d truly kill Ethan.

It wasn’t a joke. He knew how strong Rosalie was. She could take down seven or eight burly men in minutes.

“I have a plan for revenge. For now, just focus on taking care of me. First, help me get a wheelchair,” Henry said.

Rosalie didn’t argue.

She calmed herself, shoved her anger down, nodded, and looked around. “Where is she?”

Henry stayed quiet for a moment, then explained everything that had happened over the last few days.

Rosalie clenched her fists so hard that her knuckles cracked, her chest heaving. “That bitch!”

He sighed. “Don’t curse her. She wouldn’t have hurt me on purpose. She just couldn’t help with some matters.”

Rosalie hadn’t expected Luciana to act like that. She was furious, but there was nothing she could do.
