The passing teams only glanced at them before walking away. No one found it strange that Reina was crouching beside a pile of mutant rat corpses.

After all, they had all done the same thing before. Whenever someone killed a mutant rat, they would usually check it with their smartwatch.

If the reading showed a low or moderate Contamination Value, it was considered a small stroke of luck.

In truth, Reina felt quite nervous at that moment. She worried that revealing her ability might make the others greedy.

But then again, she would miss many opportunities if she kept hiding it. Right now, she didn’t have the ability to hunt monsters

alone.

Besides, harvesting from a single mutant rat gave her 20 EXP. That was extremely helpful for leveling up her skill, and chances like this were rare.

So Reina decided to take the risk and trust Chloe and the others for now.

Before long, she finished harvesting from more than 10 mutant rats. In the end, she obtained another Level 2 energy crystal core and nine large chunks of mutant rat meat, each weighing 20 pounds.

She quietly slipped the two energy crystal cores into her pocket. The eleven pieces of mutant rat meat were divided among everyone’s backpacks.

The camp gate opened right on time, and the teams returning from outside rushed in.

Two teams carried in mutant rat corpses that weighed more than 100 pounds each. Their cheerful expressions made it obvious that the rats had low Contamination Values.

Other teams looked far less fortunate. Many of their members were injured, and one team had even lost two people.

Reina noticed that Easton’s team had also returned. Out of their ten members, three were wounded.

The most seriously injured seemed to be Francis. One of his legs hung limply, blood pouring down it as anoth teammate carried him into the camp.

Reina glanced once, then turned and led Chloe and the others toward the trading booth.

Two hundred pounds of fresh meat was far too much to keep for themselves. They would have to sell 200 pounds and exchange it for supplies that might save their lives.

But before selling it, she wanted to hear Chloe and the others’ opinions.

Since they had formed a team, she could not just take all the rewards for herself.

“What do you want to do with this meat?” Reina asked.

Chloe froze for a moment, then scratched her head. “You harvested all of this with your ability. Of course, you get to decide I’ll just follow your lead.”

Dylan nodded in agreement. “Do whatever you want with it. We don’t mind.”

Gerard added, “Same here.”

“Alright then. Let’s keep one piece for ourselves and sell the rest to the camp,” Reina said.

“I’m fine with that.”

“Me too.”

“Sure.”

They all looked at Reina expectantly, leaving everything entirely up to her.

So Reina took Chloe to Taylor’s trading booth and asked about the price first. “How much per pound for mutant rat meat with a Contamination Value of thirty-something?”

Taylor blinked. “Is that for the whole rat or just the meat?”

“Just the meat, all fresh, no parasites,” Reina said.

Many mutant rats carried horrifying parasites inside their bodies, some that could not even be killed by boiling water. Because of that, their price was much lower than that of mutant rabbits or sheep, which usually carried far fewer parasites.

Taylor looked completely unconvinced. “Mutant rat meat without parasites? That’s impossible.”

“You can test it yourself,” Chloe said, a little annoyed.

She pulled out a large piece of fresh meat from her backpack and tossed it arrogantly onto the counter in front of Taylor.

Taylor fell silent.

Without hesitation, he sliced the meat into several pieces and fed them one by one into the testing machine beside him

After quite a while, the machine printed out the test report. The result showed that the meat was fresh and clean, with no parasites or eggs detected.

Taylor’s eyes widened in disbelief.

But the report clearly said so. Even if he doubted it, he had no choice but to accept the result.

Still, he did not dare decide the price on his own. If he made a mistake, he would be the one held responsible.

In the end, he went to Blake and asked him to make the decision.

Reina was not in a hurry. She and Chloe sat beside the trading booth and chatted while they waited.

“If the price is good, we should harvest more mutant rats tomorrow,” Reina said.

Her main goal was still to level up her ability. She still needed more than 600 points to reach 5000 EXP. This wave of mutant rats was a rare opportunity.
