The staff member looked pained, but said helplessly, “I already told you we’re sold out. Why won’t you listen? Begging me doesn’t do anything. If you’re really in a hurry, go ask the different ability user groups. Maybe someone can spare a bottle.”
“I already asked them. They don’t have any either.” The woman sobbed, desperate and helpless.
The staff member shook his head, irritated. “Staying here won’t change a thing. I can’t magically produce a bottle for you.”
He looked up and spotted a young girl carrying two huge slabs of meat. He immediately waved her over. “Hey, hey! Come here.”
Reina walked over and set the meat on the counter, her face blank as she said, “These two pieces are both Level 3 mutant beast meat. They have low contamination value. Give me a price first, and I’ll decide if it works.”
The moment the staff member heard that, his eyes lit up. “Okay. I’ll test it right now, then I’ll make an offer.”
So Reina sat at the window and waited, occasionally glancing at the crying woman.
The woman had two young male companions with her. They looked worn down, and both of them were injured.
Reina forced down the part of her stirring conscience, but said nothing, and quietly waited for the staff member’s offer.
She had been beaten up and clawed through the wasteland for eight years. She had seen every kind of person and every kind of mess, and conscience was bullshit.
Even if she had a pile of potions on her right now, she still could not take them out. If she did, tonight would be the day she died.
After crying for a while, and seeing no one respond, the woman asked Reina, “Missy, do you have any mental power recovery potions?”
Reina shook her head. “No. I used them up a long time ago.”
The woman looked hopeless. Then she suddenly said, “Then I want to buy some meat. Can you spare
Reina nodded. “120 points a pound. How many pounds do you want?”
“What? 120 points a pound? Why don’t you just rob me?”

One of the woman’s companions complained, “Look at the situation we’re in. You’re still jacking up prices You’re trying to profit off a disaster.”
The other young man chimed in too “You’re still a kid. You should learn to be kind. Don’t chase every dollar”
Reina cut her eyes at the two of them and said quietly, “If you’re not buying, get lost!”
“You!”
The two of them clenched up and moved like they were about to put their hands on Reina
The woman suddenly exploded, yelling at them, “Can you two calm down? You boss is still lying in the infirmary! You two still want to go looking for trouble?”
The two young men froze, then immediately turned furious from embarrassment.

“How are we stirring up trouble?”
The blond-haired guy’s face twisted as he snarled, “I’ve been too nice to you, huh? You think you can talk to me like that?”
The other guy backed him up. “If you weren’t Boss’s woman, I would’ve beat your ass already!”
The woman turned away and stopped talking. She walked to the side and covered her face as she cried.
“Hmph! Ungrateful bitch!”
The blond-haired guy cursed as he yanked the other guy along. “Let’s go! Let her deal with it herself! When Boss dies, watch how I deal with her!”
The two of them stormed out of the trading hall. Only after wiping her eyes did the woman come back over.
Through blurry tears, she told Reina, “I’m sorry, sis. Can you sell me two pounds of meat? My husband has always wanted to eat meat. but he never lets himself buy any. Now he’s in this state and want to grant him one wish.”
“Sure.”
Reina was not completely unreasonable. She pulled out a dagger, cut off a piece from one slab of fresh meat, and tossed it to the woman. “Two pounds. Pay up.”
The woman thanked her, paid 240 points, and left with the meat.
The trading staff smiled. “Your Level 3 mutant beast meat is worth more than 120 points a pound you know.”
Reina blinked and said, “I know. It’s Level 3 beast meat with low contamination. Eating it restores abilities fast, and it can treat mental power instability, too. Overall, it works even better than low-grade mental power recovery potions.”
She had learned all of that at school. She had just never run into it until now.
if she did not still have a big piece of low-value Level 3 mutant beast meat back at her place, she would have kept these two for herself.
Well, half a slab will do.
The staff member smiled and shook his head. As he weighed the two slabs of mutant beast meat, he said, “My purchase price for you is 280 a pound. You good with that?”
Reina nodded “Fine if you offered too low, the worst that happens is I stop exchanging at your window.”
