Watching You Burn In Regret novel Chapter 116

"Alright, I'll do as you say."

Willa's voice was soft and sugary, almost childlike. "So… will you take care of me from now on?"

Sheridan hesitated for a moment.

They'd grown up together, childhood friends with years of shared memories. Now that Willa had asked him outright, it was hard to turn her down.

But then, he thought of Seren.

If he promised to look after Willa, Seren would surely be upset with him again.

In the end, Sheridan could only mumble a weak, noncommittal "Yeah."

Taking care of Willa wasn't exactly a crime. He'd just have to keep it from Seren. It wasn't like Seren was the type to obsess over every little thing, anyway.

A faint smile tugged at the corners of Willa's mouth. Winning Sheridan over really was effortless.

Sheridan helped Willa settle onto the bed.

Halfway through, he hesitated again, then finally spoke up.

"Willa, you should move out of The Golden Age first thing tomorrow morning. I have an apartment over at Willow Lane Gardens—why don't you move there instead?"

Willa's smile froze.

She stared at Sheridan in disbelief, almost wondering if she'd had too much to drink and was hallucinating.

"Is Seren coming back?"

She guessed the reason in an instant.

Sheridan nodded. "Yeah. I've been thinking about it these past few days, and you were right—women need to be coaxed. I've decided to go and bring Seren back myself."

So her suspicion was confirmed.

It felt like a bucket of ice water had been dumped over her head, leaving her completely stunned.

Seren hadn't even said she was coming back, and yet Sheridan was already so eager to fetch her?

What the hell was wrong with him?
