Watching You Burn In Regret novel Chapter 203

Seren's expression turned cold. It was Slater and Carla Bradley.

When Slater saw Seren, his eyes sharpened with a cold glint, and he strode towards her. He had felt a sliver of guilt towards Seren before, but Swain Bradley’s recent behavior had sparked a rebellious streak in him, and that guilt had faded. Now, he blamed Seren for throwing their once-peaceful family into turmoil and driving a wedge between the brothers.

The sight of her made his temper flare, and he was ready to unleash a tirade. But before he could reach her, Nadine, noticing his hostile gaze, stepped in front of him, holding out a hand to block his path.

"Slater, what do you think you're doing?" Nadine's temper was famously short; she wouldn't hesitate to confront anyone who crossed her. Besides, she was slightly older than him, making her his cousin, and it wouldn't look good for him to shove her aside.

Slater stopped, his lips pressed into a thin line. "Nadine, I just want to have a word with Seren."

"What is there to say? I don't believe for a second you'd speak to her nicely. Every time I've seen you two together, you've done nothing but mock her, insult her, or yell at her." Nadine knew him too well. Slater was hot-headed and had never shown Seren any respect, publicly or privately. His words were always venomous and cruel; a stranger would think they were mortal enemies, not siblings.

Slater sneered. "If she did things right, who would bother yelling at her for no reason?" He genuinely believed he was not at fault for berating Seren. In his mind, he was just pointing out her mistakes so she could learn from them.

Nadine stared at him, her voice firm. "Then tell me, specifically, what has Seren ever done wrong?"
