Watching You Burn In Regret novel Chapter 207

Lennon had to get back to work, so they kept the call brief. After hanging up, Seren noticed several unread messages from him that she had missed while she was busy shopping. They were simple check-ins, but his care for her was clear in every word.

Nadine, who had overheard everything, rested her chin on her hand. "So this is the benefit of dating an older man?"

"This is the benefit of dating an older man who is also mature, stable, and a genuinely good person," Seren corrected her earnestly.

Nadine raised an eyebrow, pressing for more. "Oh? And what's the difference?"

"Sheridan is older than me, isn't he? But he's a man-child. When I was with him, I always felt like his mother, having to worry about everything. With Lennon, it's different. He gives me emotional support, teaches me about the world, and gives me the respect and freedom I deserve."

As she listed Lennon's good qualities, Seren didn't realize the pride that crept into her voice.

Nadine nodded thoughtfully. "The last time I went to Duskwood Temple to pray for a partner, I didn't give any specifics. Next time, I'm going to ask the god of marriage for a man who's just as mature and decent."

Seren smiled slyly. "Why ask the gods? I think Michael Johnston is a pretty good candidate."

At the mention of Michael, Nadine's demeanor shifted.

She quickly scanned their surroundings before leaning in and whispering, "Don't even joke about that. Michael is engaged. He has a fiancée. I heard he came back to Riverbend City specifically for her."
