Watching You Burn In Regret novel Chapter 254

This baby was the result of Willa drugging Sheridan.

A child conceived through such deceitful means gave them no moral high ground. Combined with what happened three years ago, making a scene would only bring shame upon the Sullivan family.

Janie's initial righteous anger deflated. "Then what about the baby?" she asked, her voice hesitant.

Diana laughed, a cold, sharp sound. "While we can't be certain the child is even Sheridan's, we'll consider it his for the sake of our families' old friendship. Three million dollars. You take Willa and have an abortion. If you don't say anything and I don't say anything, no one will ever know. Afterward, you can have a little procedure done for her, and she'll have no problem finding a husband. I'll have a servant deliver the check to your house later. Consider it payment for the surgery and her recovery. Let's resolve this quietly, without damaging the peace between our families. There's no need to make a scene."

Was this woman even human?

The baby was conceived the *second* time they were together, and that time, she hadn't drugged him. Sheridan had invited her over. She never thought Sheridan and his family could be so shameless, pinning all the blame on her while washing their hands of all responsibility. And she could hear the undisguised contempt in Diana's voice.

A wave of humiliation and defeat crashed over Willa. Rage shot through her, and her hands, clenched at her sides, began to tremble uncontrollably.

Janie was silent. There was nothing left to say. In her heart, she agreed with Diana.

After hanging up, she turned to Willa. "Willa, maybe… maybe we should just let the baby go."

Though she disapproved of Willa's actions, Janie kept her voice gentle. The morning's events were still fresh in her mind, and she was terrified that if she pushed too hard, Willa might try to harm herself again, creating an even bigger mess.

This was exactly what Willa had wanted to hear. She had no intention of getting rid of this baby.

She nodded silently and went upstairs.

The moment she closed her bedroom door, she swept everything off her desk, sending it crashing to the floor.

She was filled with so much hatred. And so much resentment.

She had schemed and fought to conceive this child; she refused to just let it go. And she certainly wouldn't settle for marrying some "decent, honest man" as Janie suggested. She was meant to marry the heir of a powerful family. Why should she settle for some useless, ordinary man?
