Watching You Burn In Regret novel Chapter 267

After hanging the painting, Lennon left for the office.

Seren went to her studio to paint. A short while later, she received a call from Seth Gilbert. A client had come in and specifically requested her for a commission.

"He's an old client," Seth added. "I have to go to a friend's wedding today, so you'll have to handle it yourself."

Seren had a pretty good idea who the client was before she even hung up.

Ten minutes later, she walked into the meeting room at The Antiquarian's Gallery and found, as expected, Quentin Shepherd.

Like last time, he had brought his assistant with him.

"I've just had my office redecorated," Quentin began, "and I need a landscape painting. Something with mountains and water."

Wealthy businessmen were often superstitious.Because in their views, mountains represented support and stability, while water symbolized a continuous flow of wealth. A painting with both was believed to bring fortune and power, making it a popular choice for offices. Seren saw nothing unusual in his request.

"Of course," she said.

"I have some gossip for you," he said, leaning forward. "Willa is pregnant. She and her mother went to the Powers family to demand that Sheridan take responsibility. But the Powers family refused. They offered her three million dollars to get an abortion. Can you believe the nerve of those people?"

Shepherd Manor was right next to Powers Mansion, and Quentin had seen Janie and Willa arrive the day before. Being an incorrigible gossip, he had immediately started digging and had soon uncovered the whole story. He was bursting to talk about it, but most of his friends were connected to Sheridan in some way. He couldn't risk the story getting back to the Powers family. But he couldn't keep it to himself either. So, he had thought of Seren—the perfect person to share the gossip with.

Seren realized that the landscape painting was just a pretext. He had come here to gossip. For a man with his family background, he had far too much time on his hands. She almost wanted to suggest he get a job, if only to cure his boredom.

As for Willa and Sheridan, she wasn't surprised. Willa had always been obsessed with him; it was only a matter of time before things escalated. What did surprise her was the Powers family's reaction. Three million dollars to get rid of the baby… it was shockingly cold.
