Seren paused for a moment. "I already gave Sheridan an invitation. He came to Seaside City and showed up at my and my husband's house. We gave it to him together."

Quentin's eyes widened. "He already has an invitation? Then why did I hear he told his parents he's still in love with you and won't marry anyone else?" The man was clearly unhinged.

"I don't know what he's thinking," Seren admitted. "I've told him multiple times that I'm married. He didn't believe me at first, but I thought the invitation would convince him." Once he saw the invitation, he should have known it was over.

Seren found him rather endearing. He had come all the way to Seaside City under the pretense of commissioning a painting, just to gossip about Sheridan and Willa.

Thinking about it all, she felt a wave of relief. She had been lucky to get away from Sheridan when she did. He claimed to love her, yet he had slept with Willa and gotten her pregnant. The man was a two-faced hypocrite who couldn't control himself. She couldn't imagine what her life would be like now if she had stayed.

And it was almost laughable. Even with Willa, the supposed love of his life, Sheridan was capable of being utterly ruthless. He had gotten her pregnant and then refused to take any responsibility. He wasn't just irresponsible; he was a scumbag of the highest order. And his family was just as shameless, willing to throw money at the problem rather than do the right thing.
