When Her Death Couldn't Break Him (Cecilia and Nathaniel) novel Chapter 2260

"Nathaniel, Cecilia."

Off in the distance, Chelsea stood there in a sharp, capable-looking business suit, greeting the two of them.

Before either of them could answer, she walked straight over.

"What is it?" Nathaniel asked without wasting a word.

Seeing that, Chelsea nodded. "Yeah. I want to talk to Cecilia for a minute. Is that okay?"

Another one here to pull his wife away from him. Nathaniel's face closed off at once, but there wasn't much he could do.

"Ceci, finish talking to her quickly, then come back."

"Okay, okay, okay."

Cecilia looked helpless. Nathaniel had really gotten way too clingy lately.

After Nathaniel left, Cecilia brought Chelsea over to a quieter spot where hardly anyone came by.

Only then did she ask, "What happened?"

"Cecilia... I'm really lost right now."

Chelsea spoke slowly.

"Do you think choosing Jason was the right thing or the wrong thing?"

Cecilia had known right away this was about a relationship.

That left her with no easy answer.

"Why would you start thinking like this now?" Cecilia asked.

Only then did Chelsea explain.

"He's been really busy lately. I can see how hard he's pushing himself, and I can't help him at all. Honestly, he could've had an easier life, but he chose me. If my parents hadn't set such high expectations for him, he wouldn't have to work this hard."

Cecilia had thought it was something serious.

Turns out, this was all it was.

"Chelsea, speaking as someone who's already a mother, let me tell you this."

"Your parents want Jason to do well. That's only natural. No parent wants their child living badly. You understand that, right?"

Chelsea nodded.

"I know, but..."

"Then why are you wavering so much now? Didn't you used to like Jason a lot? Weren't you set on being with him? You're not backing off just because of something this small, are you?"

Cecilia really couldn't figure out what was going through her head.
