When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 10

Chapter 10

Heather exhaled deeply, her voice heavy with regret. “The truth is, I was wrong. Your marriage is a complete disaster. I never should have let Chiara throw herself at you, especially without knowing if you already had someone else in your heart.”

Titus responded with a low, almost cynical chuckle, his expression unreadable. “A disaster, huh? Is it really that bad?”

Heather simply smiled, reaching beneath the coffee table to grab the remote. With a click, the TV flickered to life, and a video from Chiara’s college days appeared on the screen.

There she was — Chiara, radiant and full of youthful innocence, her smile bright and genuine.

Titus remained silent, watching the footage without a word.

Heather’s voice softened but remained firm. “This was Chiara before she married you. She was always so full of light and happiness. But over the past three years, I’ve watched that light fade away. That’s when I realized how badly I’d messed things up.”

She paused, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. “This marriage has only brought her pain and heartbreak. She never complains, but I see it — the hurt in her eyes. Our family’s sweet daughter has been broken. I’ve failed my parents. I’ve failed her. I’m not worthy to be her sister or her protector.”

Heather switched off the video, turning to Titus with a steady gaze. “Since your heart belongs to someone else, I’m asking you — for the love Chiara has given you — please, just let her go. Show her some mercy.”

Titus looked up, his dark eyes inscrutable, hiding whatever thoughts churned beneath.

Meanwhile, in her bedroom, Chiara changed her clothes, her mind wandering in a fog of unease. She didn’t rush downstairs; something felt wrong, though she couldn’t quite place it.

Lost in thought, she barely noticed when the door swung open suddenly, causing her to jump up from the bed.

She froze as she saw Titus lock the door behind him, tension tightening in her chest. “W-What are you doing?” she stammered.

Titus moved toward her deliberately, and Chiara’s heart pounded wildly. She feared he might try to do the same thing again, right here.

“Titus, this is my home. Don’t you dare try anything,” she said, her voice trembling with a mix of fear and defiance.

Terrified of what he might do, she tried to run, but Titus caught her and pulled her back, holding her firmly.

“Titus!” she cried out.

“Do you really want a divorce?” he asked quietly.

Chiara froze, struggling to read his expression, then nodded without hesitation. “Yes.”

Chapter 11

His eyes darkened as he gripped her shoulders, searching her face for something.

She was tense, restless — a far cry from the bright, confident girl in the video.

He recalled their first meeting vividly: how bold and slightly naive she had been, openly declaring her desire to be his girlfriend. She had admitted she knew the Goodman family was trying to set him up with some heiress, so she took the chance herself.

Her cheeks had flushed bright red, but she had found the courage to explain why she believed she was perfect for him.

At first, he hadn’t cared much. But when they met again, soaked from the rain, he surprised himself by offering her a ride. She had insisted on tagging along, playing it cool, and to pass the time, he took her to a hotel.

Things spiraled quickly; he was undeniably attracted to her, wanting her deeply.

So, he married her — not because of love, but because it was easier that way. At least she was good in bed.

Three years later, she had proven herself. He had accepted her as his wife, and honestly, no one else compared.

The truth was, Titus didn’t want a divorce. He was willing to compromise.

He brushed a soft kiss against the corner of her lips, his voice low and tempting. “Tell me what you want. I’ll think about it. Just stop talking about divorce, okay?”

Chiara stared at him, confused by his sudden change in tone.

When she remained silent, Titus thought she was softening. His expression softened too. “I’ll make time for us. We’ll celebrate every anniversary together.”

A flicker of amusement crossed Chiara’s eyes, and she let out a short, almost mocking laugh. “You really think that’s why I want a divorce?”
