When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 11

Chapter 11

July 1st, bright and sunny.

On the very first day of school, I unexpectedly bumped into him. Strangely, he didn’t recognize me at all.

But that didn’t bother me in the slightest. Just being at the same school as him filled me with an indescribable joy.

It was only the first day, yet I was already floating on air, my heart racing with excitement. I couldn’t wait to discover what this semester held in store for me.

July 16th, overcast skies.

Today, I saw him again. But I quickly slipped out of view when I noticed a senior girl pouring her heart out to him.

He was so kind and gentle, even while turning her down.

If I ever confessed my feelings to him and got rejected, at least I’d know he’d do it with grace. That thought comforted me.

I decided then—I’d wait until after the SATs to confess. It had to be the right timing.

September 3rd, a mix of sun and clouds.

It had been more than a month since I last saw him. Rumor had it he’d gone abroad.

I couldn’t help but wonder how the mind of a genius worked.

Would someone like me—who basically bought her way into this school—ever stand a chance with him?

But hey, brains and beauty were a classic combination, right?

He had the intelligence, I had the looks. We were practically destined to be together.

Titus chuckled softly as he read that part.

But these diary entries revealed a side of Chiara completely different from the woman he knew. She had once been lively and full of energy.

The Chiara he remembered was always composed, thoughtful, and reasonable. “Lively” was hardly the word for her.

For some reason, he had spent half the night reading through the entire diary.

Finally, he reached the last few entries.

June 29th, sunny.

I took the boldest step of my life—I seduced him, and it worked.

It felt surreal. I was going to marry him.

The Lynch Group would be fine. Mom, Dad, you could finally rest easy.

Heather and I would get through anything. And I was getting married!

Dear Mom and Dad, please bless me.

July 8th, sunny.

I’m married now. I’m going to be happy.

February 26th, rainy.

I’ve decided to focus on being Mrs. Goodman.

That was the final entry. After only a few months of marriage, she had shoved the diary into the storage room and locked it away.

She was disillusioned. This marriage was nothing like the fairy tale she had imagined.

It took her six months to face reality and let go of her old dreams.

Titus closed the diary and walked over to the window, lighting a cigarette. His gaze drifted toward her vanity table.

After they married, she had always done her skincare routine in front of that mirror, then curled up in his arms.

Now, only silence lingered in the room.

Chiara had lived here for three years; her scent still filled the air.

Feeling uneasy, Titus looked away, wondering, “Should I finally let her go?”

Of course, the answer was no. Deep down, he liked having her presence around.

He glanced back at the diary resting on the coffee table and let out a dry, unreadable laugh.

He had to admit, Heather was right. If it had been any other woman, he wouldn’t have cared. But Chiara was different.

She was the woman he had chosen, and he had never once thought of replacing her.

Mrs. Goodman wasn’t like anyone else—she was in a league of her own.

Titus lowered his eyes, extinguishing his cigarette. Then, he picked up his phone and made a call.

“Come to my office tomorrow morning,” he said.

He tossed the phone onto the coffee table and his eyes landed on their wedding photo.
