When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 105

**Silent Roads Remember by Sawyer**

**Chapter 105**

As soon as Lena exited the sterile confines of the hospital, Queenie couldn’t contain her disdain any longer. She spat vehemently in the direction Lena had just stumbled away from, her anger bubbling over like a pot left too long on the stove.

The act of spitting didn’t alleviate her fury; it only reminded her of Lena’s insufferable arrogance. Lena had fought tooth and nail to carve out a place for herself in Halinston, and now, like a cruel twist of fate, she was being unceremoniously ousted. Queenie couldn’t help but relish the thought that Lena was likely loathing every single moment of her downfall.

Paul, always the pragmatist, was adept at navigating such chaotic situations. To him, if money could resolve the issue, then it wasn’t a problem worth losing sleep over.

Francis, on the other hand, was in a dire predicament. Rushed to the hospital in a state of panic, he had emerged alive but utterly shattered. The realization of his impending doom sent him into a frenzy, screaming about the need to involve the police, his voice echoing through the sterile hallways.

Paul, however, remained unfazed. He simply tossed all the evidence of Francis’s harassment of female staff right back at him, a cold reminder of the consequences of his actions.

In stark contrast to Francis’s explosive outburst, his wife and parents maintained a calm demeanor. When they were presented with the money, any thoughts of pursuing the matter evaporated. They accepted the cash without a second thought, resolving everything in that moment. Francis’s own wishes were dismissed entirely.

“Mr. Goodman, everything is settled,” Paul reported with a sense of finality.

Francis’s family would be whisking him away from Halinston for good, a fact that hung heavy in the air.

Meanwhile, Titus was tending to Chiara, checking her forehead with a gentle touch. Once he confirmed her temperature had returned to normal, he carefully extracted her wrist from beneath the blanket, revealing dark bruises that marred her skin. A storm brewed in Titus’s eyes as he took in the sight, his heart heavy with concern. Wordlessly, he uncapped the ointment that sat nearby, ready to tend to her wounds.

The three onlookers stood in silence, their eyes glued to the scene unfolding before them. At Paul’s subtle signal, they slipped quietly out of the hospital room, the air thick with unspoken tension.

“So, Lena admitted it?” Paul asked, his brow furrowing in thought.

Queenie scoffed, the sound sharp and derisive. “Did she really have any other option?”

Paul shook his head, his frown deepening. “I gave her a warning beforehand, but I never imagined she’d pull a stunt this audacious.”

Queenie shot him a knowing look. “She’s not that bold on her own. Someone must’ve given her the guts. She’s not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, easily falling into whatever trap is laid out for her.”

Paul’s expression shifted to one of disbelief. “What are you getting at?”

“Lena admitted it herself. Elaine is the one who pushed her into it,” Queenie explained, her voice laced with certainty.

“What?” Paul’s surprise was palpable. “You can’t be serious.”

He glanced at Noreen, who nodded in affirmation. “That’s exactly what Lena said. She even mentioned that Ms. Jensen transferred money directly into her account.”

Paul felt as if the ground had been pulled from under him. “How is this even possible?”

“Why wouldn’t it be?” Queenie huffed, clearly irritated. “Isn’t Elaine completely smitten with Mr. Goodman?”

Paul’s mind spun in circles, struggling to grasp the implications of her words. He felt a sense of disorientation wash over him, as if he were caught in a whirlwind of revelations.

When Queenie pressed him for answers, he nodded absentmindedly, still reeling from the shock. “Yeah…”

But as clarity returned, his eyes widened in realization, and he glared at Queenie, annoyance bubbling to the surface.

Queenie’s eyes mirrored his surprise, practically shouting in disbelief, “No way! It’s really true? No wonder Chiara said that.”

Paul was left momentarily speechless. ‘What did Mrs. Goodman say?’ he pondered, his mind racing.

Impatient, Queenie seized Paul’s arm, refusing to let go, her voice rising with urgency. “Just be honest with me. Are Mr. Goodman and Elaine having an affair?”

The word “affair” hit Paul like a slap to the face, leaving him momentarily stunned. For a fleeting second, he was taken aback. He had entertained such suspicions in the past, but those were just fleeting thoughts.

Years had passed since then. If there was any truth to it, there was no way they could keep it hidden from him. He was Titus’s right-hand man, after all; no one could pull the wool over his eyes without him noticing.

Yet, the reality was that their relationship had never crossed that line. Still, if pressed to swear that nothing had ever happened between Titus and Elaine, he couldn’t stake his life on it.

Caught off guard, he found himself at a loss for words.

Queenie’s expression morphed into a fierce glare, her voice rising with indignation. “So Mr. Goodman really was fooling around?”

Noreen’s gaze shifted to Paul, her brow furrowed in concern.

Paul’s face betrayed his inner turmoil. He was clearly concealing something.

The phrase “messing around” crashed into him like a tidal wave, and he cast a furtive glance at the closed hospital room door.

With gritted teeth, he hissed, “Queenie, can you keep your voice down, please?”
