**Silent Roads Remember by Sawyer**
**Chapter 112**
“I can’t shake the feeling that Titus has undergone quite a transformation recently. Have you ever considered giving him another chance? Well, that’s not quite what I meant,” Heather began, her voice trailing off with uncertainty.
She took a moment, allowing the silence to stretch between them before continuing, “Let me rephrase that. Have you ever thought about giving both of you a fresh start?”
Chiara felt a knot form in her stomach as she hesitated, her fingers intertwining nervously. Time seemed to slip away as her mind wandered, lost in a maze of thoughts.
Heather, ever patient, didn’t rush her. The only sound on the line was the gentle rustling of paper from Heather’s end, a reminder of the world continuing on while Chiara wrestled with her emotions.
“Heather, I’m not sure if I should waver in my decision. I know Titus has changed, I really do, but I can’t shake off this nagging worry…” Chiara finally confessed, her voice barely above a whisper.
Heather knew all too well what lay beneath Chiara’s words. The fear of getting hurt again loomed large, casting a shadow over her heart.
“If you haven’t found your answer yet, that’s perfectly okay. You can keep searching,” Heather reassured her. “But remember, you have always been bold and fearless. You never shied away from a challenge.”
Chiara felt a sudden tension in her shoulders.
‘That’s true,’ she mused. ‘I used to be so daring and unafraid. I never hesitated or worried about the potential consequences.’ Her thoughts spiraled further, ‘What could possibly be left to fear?’
She had already weathered so much turmoil in her life. Even if she took the plunge and it didn’t pan out, she could always rebuild. Surely, things couldn’t spiral any further downward than they already had.
Just as Chiara was lost in her contemplation, the door swung open with a creak.
Looking up, she was startled to see Titus standing there. “Why are you still home at this hour?” she asked, surprise lacing her tone.
His gaze flickered to Chiara’s phone, curiosity evident in his eyes. “Who are you talking to?”
“Heather,” Chiara replied, a hint of defensiveness creeping into her voice.
Titus extended his hand toward her, a clear indication that he wanted the phone.
Chiara hesitated for a moment, weighing her options, before reluctantly handing him the device.
Taking the phone, Titus spoke to Heather, “Kason came back to the country last week. He’s in Beriton.”
As he spoke, he reached out with his other hand, palm open, toward Chiara.
She looked up at him, her heart racing, and finally placed her hand in his, feeling a rush of warmth.
“Don’t forget to put on your shoes,” he reminded her gently, his voice softening.
Chiara complied, slipping on her shoes as Titus guided her toward the bathroom door.
Understanding what he meant, she cast a quick glance at her phone before stepping inside.
‘But who is Kason?’ Chiara pondered, a frown creasing her brow. ‘Why have I never heard that name before? Is he someone both Heather and Titus know?’
“If you’re up for a risk, you could go to Beriton in person,” Titus suggested, his tone shifting to a more serious note as he spoke to Heather.
The line fell silent, the weight of his words hanging in the air. Titus had already sent her Kason’s file two days ago, and it lay untouched on her desk, a testament to her indecision.
Kason was an orphan who had carved out a life for himself on Vista Street. That alone spoke volumes about his capabilities.
“Mr. Goodman, do you genuinely believe I can handle someone like him?” Heather questioned, her voice tinged with doubt.
Titus raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on his lips. “So, I’m asking you—do you have the guts to take that leap?”
Heather hesitated, flipping through Kason’s file with a frown etched on her face. “Will you stand by me, Mr. Goodman?”
“Absolutely. Aren’t we family?” Titus replied, his tone reassuring.
After a moment’s pause, Heather added, “As I’ve mentioned before, I fully support all of Chiara’s choices and decisions.”
Titus glanced toward the bathroom door, where the sound of running water filtered through.
“Mm,” he murmured in acknowledgment.
“If you’re hesitant about taking the risk, that’s fine. The Lynch Group won’t crumble,” he reassured her.
As long as Goodman Group remained intact, the Lynch Group would always have a place in the industry. But Heather’s aspirations reached far beyond mere survival in Halinston.
In a cutthroat environment like Halinston, falling behind in the business and finance sectors could spell disaster, making it nearly impossible to catch up.
Heather yearned to restore the Lynch Group to its former glory, the way it shone when her parents were alive.
She didn’t want anyone to ever claim that Chiara had married Titus for his wealth or influence.
Heather wanted Chiara to possess the strength to stand side by side with Titus, even if it was he who had initially inspired that dream.
“Mr. Goodman, aren’t you concerned that once the Lynch Group regains its footing, you won’t have any leverage over Chiara anymore?” Heather probed, her curiosity piqued.
Titus chuckled softly. “I’ll admit, Kason possesses some impressive skills. It may take the Lynch Group two or three years to restore its former glory, but I won’t require nearly that long.”
Heather fell silent, contemplating his words.
Reflecting on how Chiara had seemed so uncertain earlier, Heather couldn’t help but acknowledge that Titus had a valid point.
He would likely achieve his goals long before those two or three years had elapsed.
“Now that Kason’s back, I bet a multitude of companies are clamoring to recruit him. Why would he choose the Lynch Group over all the competition?” Heather questioned, her brow furrowing.
Titus narrowed his eyes, a glimmer of determination in his gaze. “Well, that’s up to you. If necessary, you can remind him how closely our families are tied.”
Heather fell silent again, then abruptly remarked, “Titus, you’re quite the enigma.”
