When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 111

**TITLE: Silent Roads Remember by Sawyer**

**Chapter 111**

“You made it clear that your marriage was merely a means to silence your family’s incessant nagging, yet here you are, genuinely in love with Chiara. You’ve betrayed my sister!” Elaine’s voice rang out, filled with a mix of disbelief and fury.

At that moment, Elaine felt as though the very fabric of her sanity had been torn apart. Lena’s words echoed in her mind, each one a painful reminder of the harsh reality.

“Titus has truly fallen for Chiara. It’s as if she has cast a spell over him, compelling him to send me away to Eldravia, forbidding my return,” Elaine thought, a wave of despair washing over her.

The turmoil within her was escalating; she felt herself teetering on the edge of madness.

Titus stood before her, his face a tempest of emotions, a storm brewing behind his sharp, piercing gaze that felt like daggers aimed directly at her heart.

“Are you finished?” Titus’s voice was cold, devoid of warmth, as if the very air around them had turned to ice.

Elaine was momentarily silenced, but the simmering jealousy and rage within her had nowhere to escape.

She pressed on, her voice rising with urgency, “Titus, you cannot fall in love with Chiara! You can’t! You’re turning your back on my sister, and she will never forgive you for this betrayal!”

His response was curt and unyielding, “It is not your place to determine whether I have wronged your sister. But heed my warning.”

Elaine’s heart sank as she realized the depth of his resolve. He was intent on sending her away, and even the mention of her sister’s name could not sway him.

This revelation only deepened her conviction that Titus had indeed fallen for Chiara.

‘If he didn’t, how could he so easily dismiss my sister’s memory?’ Elaine’s thoughts twisted painfully with jealousy, tightening like a vice around her heart.

“Titus, do you even know what my sister confided in me before she died? I kept it from you to spare you pain, but now you’re giving the love that rightfully belonged to her to someone else. You’re allowing her to leave this world with that regret still haunting her!” Elaine’s voice cracked with raw emotion.

“You married Chiara, but you never had the chance to marry my sister. Do you have any idea what she told me before her last breath? The greatest joy in her life was meeting you, and her deepest sorrow was never being able to call you her husband!”

“You professed your love for my sister, yet you’ve transferred everything that should have been hers to Chiara! And now, for Chiara’s sake, you’re banishing me from this place! Titus, you have let my sister down!”

Titus closed his eyes, and a flood of memories surged through him, vivid and haunting.

He could see her, the woman in the blood-stained white dress, her life ebbing away in his arms, leaving him with nothing but the echo of her last words.

“Titus, promise me you’ll look after my sister, will you?” Her voice had been a fragile whisper, barely breaking through the chaos of that moment.

“I promise,” he had replied, desperation lacing his tone. “Just hold on, don’t speak. Conserve your strength. The doctor is coming.”

“Titus, I… I love you so deeply. I hope that one day, somewhere, somehow, we’ll find each other again,” she murmured, her voice fading like a candle flickering in the wind.

Titus opened his eyes slowly, a storm of emotions swirling within him. His gaze shifted toward the drawer beneath his desk, where the diary from the Lynch residence lay hidden.

After a moment of heavy silence, the tempest in his eyes began to settle, and his voice returned, icy and resolute.

“This is your final warning. I will not break my promise to Serenity, and you should understand exactly what is expected of you. I will show leniency for her sake, but I will not tolerate any harm coming to those I care about. My vow to your sister does not extend to that,” Titus declared firmly.

With that, he hung up abruptly, severing their connection and blocking Elaine’s number.

Titus tossed his phone onto the desk and retrieved the diary from the drawer, his expression inscrutable as he traced its cover with his fingertip.

“Serenity, if you were here, you would want me to cherish the one standing before me, wouldn’t you?” Titus murmured softly to himself, lost in thought.

Meanwhile, Elaine was frantically attempting to call him back, her heart racing with desperation.

No matter how many times she pressed the call button, the line remained dead. It dawned on her, with a sinking realization, that she had been blocked.

Frustration erupted within her, and she screamed, her voice echoing in the empty room.

Sharon, hearing the commotion, rushed in, flicking on the lights with urgency.

“What’s wrong, Elaine?” she asked, concern etched across her face.

Elaine stared at Sharon, her composure shattered like glass. “He wants me out of the country! He’s actually trying to chase me away, all because of Chiara!”

Sharon’s eyes lit up, though she attempted to maintain a composed demeanor.

“Of course! Thank you for believing in me, Elaine. I promise I won’t let you down,” Sharon vowed earnestly.

“You’re the only one I can rely on now. You’re the last person I have left,” Elaine confessed, her voice tinged with vulnerability.

“You can depend on me, Elaine. No matter what happens, I will never betray you or abandon you,” Sharon promised with unwavering conviction.

The following morning, Chiara awoke slowly, a wave of relief flooding over her as she realized she was in the comfort of her own room.

She turned over, reaching for her phone to check the time, her heart still racing from the events of the previous day.

A text from Heather caught her eye.

Heather: [I stopped by the hospital yesterday, but you were still asleep. Call me when you wake up.]

Sitting up, Chiara quickly smoothed her hair back and dialed Heather’s number.

“Hey, Chiara! You’re awake!” Heather exclaimed, her voice bright with relief.

“Yeah, I just woke up,” Chiara replied, her voice still thick with sleep.

“I heard everything from Mr. Goodman. That guy and his secretary have been dealt with. Thankfully, Mr. Goodman caught it in time; otherwise, the consequences could have been dire,” Heather explained, her tone serious.

Chiara’s gaze dropped to her fingers, and she responded softly, “Yeah.”

The memory of yesterday’s near-attack haunted her; she had genuinely believed she was about to be harmed. She could hardly fathom what would have happened if Titus had arrived just a moment later.

“Chiara…” Heather’s voice broke through her reverie.

“Go ahead, Heather. I’m listening,” Chiara said, her heart still racing from the recollection.
