Chapter 121
The next morning, Chiara woke up to find Titus already gone. The memories of last night made her cheeks flush with embarrassment. She covered her face with her hands, trying to calm herself down before finally reaching for her phone on the nightstand.
But when she glanced at the screen, she froze.
Her phone was blowing up with missed calls and messages.
A wave of dread washed over her as she opened her phone, and it even lagged for a few seconds.
When it finally loaded, she saw countless unread messages waiting for her.
Chiara stared at the screen for a few seconds before finally opening the top messages.
When she saw what they said, she was completely stunned. She checked other messages, her heart pounding.
Every single message was asking the same thing.
[Chiara, did you really marry Titus? Are you really Mrs. Goodman? Holy crap, Goodman Group just put out an official statement.]
Chiara felt her heart skip a beat as she read the message. She quickly pulled up Goodman Group’s official
page.
When she saw the freshly posted wedding photo, Chiara clutched her phone tightly.
She never thought Titus would announce their marriage out of the blue.

The news was already sitting at the very top of the trending list, with both companies dominating the trending topics.
Before she could even snap out of her daze, her phone started ringing.
She glanced at the caller ID and picked up.
“Heather…” Chiara murmured.
“Just woke up?” Heather asked.
“Yeah, Heather, how’s the company doing?” Chiara asked.
“Everything’s great. Shares are up a few points,” Heather said.
“I had no idea he’d go public with our marriage all of a sudden…” Chiara muttered.
“By the way, I called because the wedding photos turned out gorgeous. Got any more? Send me a few, I want to see,” Heather teased.
Chiara was speechless.
Chiara could totally hear Heather teasing her. She couldn’t help but cover her face, then finally said in a low voice, “He promised me he won’t see Elaine anymore, and that he’ll really focus on us. So… that’s why I agreed.”
“Chiara, I’ve always told you, whatever you decide, I’m behind you one hundred percent. Honestly, I think Titus really cares about you. Now that you’ve made your choice, just live your life and be happy. That’s all I want for you,” Heather said warmly.
Chiara felt her nerves finally ease a little. “Thanks, Heather. It means a lot that you understand and support me.”
“Goofball, Grandpa and I are totally behind you,” Heather said warmly.
“You’re not at the office?” Chiara asked.
Heather hesitated for a moment, then said, “No, I’m not. Anyway, I’ve got things to deal with on my end, so I’ll catch up with you later.”
After hanging up, Heather rubbed her temples and let out a sigh, biting her lip as she took in the total chaos scattered all over the room.
Face cold, she kicked off the covers and climbed out of bed, only to stare at her clothes, ripped to absolute shreds, not a single piece wearable.
Heather was totally spaced out, fragments of last night’s madness replaying in her mind.
She’d arrived in Beriton two days ago.
With Titus’s help, she’d tracked down the hotel where Kason was staying.
But she never managed to catch sight of him, so she booked a room there too. Since she didn’t know which room he was in, she just dropped off her stuff and hung out in the lobby, waiting for him to show up.
After waiting most of the day, she finally saw Kason show up.
But he had a gorgeous woman draped all over him.
Heather hesitated for a moment, but she couldn’t stand waiting any longer. She’d already spent an entire day here for nothing.
So she decided to take the initiative and approached him.
“Hi, Mr. Bradford,” she greeted.
Kason turned at the sound of her voice, raised an eyebrow, and looked her up and down, not bothering to hide his rudeness.
“Looking for me?” he asked.
Heather ignored his cocky gaze, nodded, and offered him her business card.
“Hi, Mr. Bradford. I’m Heather from Lynch Group,” she said, casting a quick glance at the woman in his arms, who was glaring daggers at her.
She added, “Do you have a minute to talk?”
Kason fiddled with the business card, not even glancing at it, his eyes fixed on Heather’s face,
The woman in his arms suddenly snapped, her voice full of annoyance. “Excuse me, ever heard of first-come, first-served? Mr. Bradford’s with me tonight. If you want to talk, come back tomorrow.”
Heather’s brow twitched ever so slightly at her words.
But Kason suddenly let out a low chuckle, using the business card to lift the woman’s chin, his grin all mischievous bad-boy charm.
“Baby, why so insecure? Who says you won’t be the one in my arms again tomorrow night?” he teased,
The woman looked absolutely dazed by his roguishly handsome face, and his words just swept her off her feet.
Heather watched the two of them blatantly flirting, her expression growing colder.
The info Titus gave her was strictly about Kason’s work ethic and capabilities.
His personal life was a complete blank.
Kason kissed the woman in his arms, then turned to Heather and handed her card back, all polite-like.
“Sorry, Ms. Lynch, I really don’t have time right now. You know, I’m quite busy tonight,” he said.
Heather took her card back, keeping her cool. “It’s fine, Mr. Bradford. I’ll wait until you’re free.”
Kason raised an eyebrow, his gaze lingering on her serious face before he suddenly chuckled, twirling a strand of the woman’s hair around his finger.
“Suit yourself, Ms. Lynch. Wait as long as you want,” he said with a smirk.
With that, he wrapped his arm around the woman and headed for the elevator. “Come on, baby, let’s not waste any more time.”
“Mr. Bradford, you’re such a tease…” the woman giggled.
“Do you like it? Hmm?” Kason teased.
“Of course I like it…” she replied, her voice soft and dreamy.
Heather stood quietly, watching as the two disappeared into the elevator, wrapped up in each other.
But then Kason suddenly looked up, and their eyes met. Heather gave him a small nod.
After all, she was the one who needed something from him, so at least she had to be sincere.
It wasn’t until the elevator doors finally slid shut that Heather let out a sigh of relief.
She’d already figured things wouldn’t go her way the moment she arrived.
She’d braced herself for whatever mess was coming.
Just as she was about to drag herself back to her room for a breather and maybe brainstorm how the heck she was supposed to win Kason over, a group of people rushed up to the front desk.
“Hi, could you check which room Mr. Bradford is staying in?” one of them asked.
“Sorry, sir, we can’t give out guest information. Hope you understand,” the receptionist said.
“Why not? This is urgent. I need to find Mr. Bradford right now. Just help me out, and trust me. There’s something in it for you,” the man insisted, sounding desperate.
The receptionist frowned, looking annoyed. “Sorry, sir, but we really can’t give out Mr. Bradford’s room number. The last staff who did that got canned on the spot. Hope you understand.”
“But I really need to find Mr. Bradford. It’s a matter of life and death,” the man pleaded, his voice desperate.
Heather watched as the man was sweating bullets, his eyes bloodshot, pounding his fists on the counter in frustration.
“Mr. Bradford, please, just come out and see me. Mr. Bradford, I’m begging you,” he shouted.
The receptionist quickly called for security, and the guards had no choice but to haul the desperate man
away.
But even as he was being dragged out, his desperate cries echoed through the lobby.
“Mr. Bradford, please, save my company. I’ve got over a thousand employees counting on me. Mr. Bradford, I’m begging you. Mr. Bradford.”
In the end, the man was still kicked out of the hotel.
Heather stood off to the side, watching the whole scene play out, her gaze lingering thoughtfully on the floor where the elevator had stopped.
She turned and walked back to the front desk. “Hi, could you upgrade me to a suite? Is the sixteenth floor available? Sixteen’s my lucky number.”
“Sure, ma’am, please wait a moment,” the receptionist replied.
