When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 13

Chapter 13

Chiara wasn’t sure whether Titus was being serious or just teasing her. But honestly, she doubted he would stoop that low.

She lifted her hand to smooth down her hair. “Give me back my clip.”

“Nah, it looks good like this,” Titus replied with a smirk.

For a moment, Chiara was at a loss for words. Then she shot him a sharp look. “It’s annoying. Just give it back.”

Titus met her gaze, amusement flickering in his eyes. “Since when did you start talking back so much?”

Chiara took a breath, trying to keep her tone even. “You can choose not to listen if you want.”

If only we stopped running into each other like this, none of this would even matter, she thought bitterly.

Titus chuckled softly, rolled down his car window, and casually flicked the hair clip into the bushes beside the road. “Fine. Not listening.”

Chiara’s eyes widened in disbelief and anger. “Are you serious? That’s mine! Who gave you the right to just throw it away like that?”

Titus rolled the window back up, his voice cool and teasing. “Wow, so now you’re not just talking back—you’re throwing a tantrum?”

Clenching her fists tightly, Chiara shot back, “You threw my stuff away first!”

“Didn’t you tell me not to listen? Why are you so mad?”

“You!” Chiara’s fury was so intense her eyes practically flashed fire. She spun around, glaring out the window before grabbing a hair tie and yanking her hair into a low ponytail.

Titus watched her quietly, something stirring deep inside him as he took in every little movement. He had never really noticed these small details before, but now, the memory of that night at the hospital came flooding back—the way her slender neck had looked, the way it had made him feel.

He fought back a faint smile, glancing away subtly before leaning back in his seat and closing his eyes.

Chiara caught him looking at her from the corner of her eye, but she turned away quickly. Her gaze landed on a document resting beside him, the words “Divorce Agreement” clearly printed on the top.

Her heart skipped a beat. Instinctively, she glanced over at Titus.

Her hands curled into tight fists. So that’s why he’s here—to give me the divorce papers. He agreed?

When Titus opened his eyes, he caught her staring at the papers. A smirk tugged at his lips. “Can’t wait already?”

Chiara’s eyes flickered as she met his gaze. “Are you here to give me the divorce agreement today?”

Titus remained silent, his expression clouded, just as he intended.

After a few moments of tense quiet, Chiara broke the silence. “Can I see it now?”

She reached out toward the papers beside him.

But just as her fingers brushed the edge, Titus’s hand shot out and wrapped around her wrist, stopping her effortlessly.

Chiara froze, looking up at him.

His eyes darkened as he stared down at her. “In such a rush to dump me? Got some other guy waiting for you?”

“Of course not. I just—”

“Just what? Didn’t you say you wanted to leave with nothing?”

Chiara’s thoughts turned bitter. Right, I said I’d walk away with nothing. So why am I even checking the papers?

As she tried to pull her hand free, Titus suddenly yanked her hard, pulling her crashing into his arms.

“You—” she started to protest, but he silenced her with a fierce, demanding kiss.

Her body remembered him all too well. Before she realized it, her resistance was melting away.
