When She Ended It With Divorce (Chiara and Titus) novel Chapter 147

Chapter 147

Heather had thought it would be Kason who walked in, but to her surprise, it was Titus. Still, seeing him didn’t seem to faze her at all.

Heather’s expression was cool and distant, just like always, except when it came to Chiara.

“Mr. Goodman, someone as busy and hard to find as you suddenly honors us with your presence. Is there something important?” Heather asked.

Paul shot Heather a look after catching her sarcasm.

Meanwhile, Titus just stared her down. “Where is she?”

Heather smirked. “Mr. Goodman, your grandma is the one who set this up. Don’t ask me, I don’t know. And even if I did, I wouldn’t tell you.”

Paul finally spoke up, frowning. “Ms. Lynch, there’s been a misunderstanding between Mr. Goodman and his wife. He’s not…”

Titus raised his hand, cutting him off. Paul glanced at Titus’s back, choking back his words.

Heather barely showed any emotion as she looked at them, her complexion off and dressed head-to-toe in a black suit, not a trace of makeup. The atmosphere around her felt heavy and somber.

Even the office had lost its color, now just shades of black, white, and gray. Everything was mourning Marcus in its own quiet

way.

“I’ll explain everything to her myself. Even if she wants a divorce, she should at least hear me out. I need to hear her say it to my face,” Titus said, his voice low and intense.

Heather looked up at him from her seat. “I don’t think that’s necessary anymore.”

His gaze was cold and unyielding as Titus stared at her. “Heather, let me see her.”

Heather’s voice hardened. “You said you were in Harborton, yet you ran to Eldravia. Chiara stayed home, waiting to tell you she was pregnant. Your first child, Titus. But where were you? What were you actually doing?”

Titus’s face instantly went pale. ‘Why does everyone have to bring up that kid?’

His fists tightened, veins standing out on his forehead. “I told you, I’ll explain everything to her myself. Even if it’s a death sentence for me, I need to hear it from her own mouth!”

Heather stood up, meeting his gaze head-on, her eyes unwavering. “Mr. Goodman, I’ve reminded you more than once. I even actually begged you!”

Heather leaned forward, hands planted firmly on the desk, staring him down. “I asked you to just treat her a little better!”

Titus swallowed hard, fists clenched so tight his knuckles turned white. His face was unreadable, and the pressure in the room dropped to freezing.

But Heather didn’t flinch. After losing someone so close, nothing could scare her anymore.

The Goodman family had been part of this from start to finish, no one was in the dark about what went down.

Believing that Titus would spare no effort in targeting the Lynch Group, Paul couldn’t help but jump in again.

“Ms. Lynch, you’ve really got it wrong. Mr. Goodman truly cares about his wife, this is just a misunderstanding, nothing more,” he insisted.

Heather shot Paul a frosty look, a mocking smirk playing at her lips as she nodded slightly. “Alright, a misunderstanding. But even if that’s the case, we’re talking about two lives here!”

She glared at them both, jaw clenched. “So tell me, who’s going to take responsibility for this so-called misunderstanding? You? Or Mr. Goodman?”.

“Mr. Goodman, like I said, I have no idea where Chiara is. Debby took care of everything herself. As far as I know, even your family is in the dark. If you’re trying to find her, I’m not the person you should be asking,

“And for the record, the moment Chiara came out of surgery, the first thing she said was that she wanted a divorce, and that she never wants to see you again. Ever.” Heather added, her tone flat.

Paul felt a pang in his chest. He looked over at Titus, who froze in place, and Paul caught the bitterness in his eyes.

‘Did Mr. Goodman mess up? Of course, he did. His biggest mistake was ever going to see Elaine, Paul couldn’t help but think, regret gnawing at him.

Heather stepped out from behind her desk, stopping right in front of Titus. Her gaze was sharp. “Misunderstanding or not, because of you and that woman, Chiara lost her family and her child.

“You should’ve realized, there’s nothing you can do to ever earn her forgiveness. Not in this lifetime.”

Paul felt his forehead throb at her blunt words, Yeah, it’s the truth, but damn, that’s harsh!’

Heather turned, catching the tension in Titus’s jaw and the ashen look on his face. “Don’t tell me you don’t already know,” she said, her tone frosty.

Titus shut his eyes for a moment, didn’t say another word, and just walked out.

Seeing this, Paul shot Heather a look and trailed after Titus.

But just as they were about to walk out, Heather’s voice cut through the silence again. “Mr. Goodman, if I were you, I’d be too ashamed to ever face her again. What she’s lost, no way you could ever make it right.

“I know her better than anyone. No matter what you’re hiding, no matter how many misunderstandings there are, she might not hate you or blame you, but she will never, ever forgive you or let you back into her life.”

Heather’s gaze grew even colder, she didn’t even conceal it.

Understanding was one thing, but forgiveness only mattered before the damage was done.

Everything from ye day felt like it had just happened a second ago. Heather couldn’t stop herself from hating Titus.

And that photo, the one that made her lose her family, was something she could never forgive.

“Titus, it’s over between you and her. If you still feel guilty, then don’t go bothering her anymore. Let her have the peace she deserves, let her get out from under your shadow and finally start to heal,” Heather continued.

Paul felt like every word Heather spoke was a blade; brutal and cutting straight to the heart.

If it hurt him this much just to hear it, he couldn’t imagine what Titus was going through.

He glanced at Titus and thought he caught a shimmer in the man’s eyes, making Paul freeze for a second.

But before he could be sure, Titus was already gone. Paul pushed up his glasses and hurried after him.

Heather watched as the two of them left one after the other, finally letting out a slow breath. She returned to her desk, opened a drawer, and pulled out a document.

It was a divorce agreement, already signed.

“Chiara, I’ve prepared several copies of the divorce papers. I doubt he’ll agree to sign them anytime soon, so just mail him one every month. I’ll wait until he gets tired of it and finally gives in,” Heather said.

Then, she pressed the intercom and called her secretary in.

“Ms. Lynch, you called?” the secretary asked, stepping into the office.

Heather handed her the document. “Send this to the CEO’s office at Goodman Group.”

The secretary’s eyes went wide when she realized what it was, but she quickly schooled her expression. Thinking back to the stormy look on Titus’s face as he left, she swallowed hard and took the document.
