Chapter 156
Two years had passed in the blink of an eye.

With Kason’s help, the Lynch Group was booming. Just last month, they even stole a contract from the Goodman Group.
But Titus didn’t say a word about it or show any sign of dissatisfaction.
Heather watched as Kason snatched the contract right out from under Titus’s nose, her brows furrowing. “Why didn’t you tell me before you went after this project?”
“What, you’re not happy with the result?” Kason replied.
Heather stood up from her chair. “Don’t mess with him.”
Kason pulled her into his arms, tilting her chin up. “It’s just fair competition. How’s that provoking him?”
“Fair competition?” Heather looked at him with a cold expression “Are you really sure about that?”
Kason smirked. “Yeah, he let it go himself. Is that on me? I was just trying to win this for you and the company.”
Heather frowned and pushed him away. “Don’t pull this again.”
Kason scoffed. “So you’re just going to bite the hand that feeds you?”
Heather looked at him for a moment, thinking to herself. In just two years, Kason really proved he knew how to get things done, and he was sharp about it, too.’
Against all odds, he’d managed to lead the Lynch Group right back into Halinston’s top ten corporate rankings.
Sure, it wasn’t like the old days yet, but honestly, if she’d been in charge, she doubted she could’ve pulled off in five years what Kason did in two.
“Come on, you know what I mean, Heather said.
Kason looked at her for a few seconds before pulling her back into his arms and pressing a kiss to her cheek. “Our contract’s got less than a year left. Wouldn’t it be nice if I handed you a few more big wins before I go?”
Heather fell silent at his words.
They were mentor-student and partners; working side by side during the day, and at night, sharing all the intimacy that comes with being together.
But now, as he held her close, he mentioned he’d be leaving soon
Her heart stayed perfectly calm. She’d always known what kind of guy Kason was, right from the start.
She gave a faint smile. ‘Alright, thanks. But don’t do it again. I don’t like owing the Goodman Group anything.”
At the Goodman Group, Paul said, ‘Mr. Goodman, it’s your mother on the phone. She wants you to come back to the Goodman manor tonight.”
Titus didn’t even look up, just replied coolly, “What’s it about?”
“She didn’t say. Just that you have to go back, Paul replied.

That was when Titus finally looked up at him. “Got it.”
Paul nodded, about to leave, but then paused, as if he remembered something.
Titus looked at him, expressionless, a hint of impatience in his voice. “Spit it out.”

Paul cleared his throat. “Mr. Wilson wanted to have dinner with you tonight. I already told him you’re busy, is that alright?”
“Turn him down,” Titus said.
“Sure, sir. I’ll leave you now,” Paul said.
After Paul stepped out of the office, he let out a quiet sigh. ‘Man, these last two years have been dead boring.
It was like everything was frozen in place, and he was just another piece of office furniture at this point.
However, no matter how late it got, Titus always went home. To the place he once shared with his wife.
Queenie snarked when she saw his face, “What’s that look for?”
Paul was used to her sarcasm these days. He couldn’t help but feel guilty about it.
If he’d known things would get so complicated, he would’ve just handled it himself and kept it under wraps from the start.
As long as he kept quiet, nobody from Eldravia could reach Titus directly.
Every time it crossed his mind, he couldn’t help but regret it.
Paul gave her a glance and walked into his office. Queenie just rolled her eyes as he left.
The new secretary, Jocelyn Stewart, had been hired two years ago and was actually pretty good at her job.
“Queenie, do you and Paul have some kind of beef or something Why do you always seem to have it out for him?” Jocelyn asked.
Queenie snorted. “No beef. I just can’t stand the guy.”
Jocelyn just stared at her, confused. “Honestly, I think Paul’s a good guy.”
Queenie just rolled her eyes, but then she caught sight of the little figurine on her desk and her mind wandered for a
moment.
It was a cute lucky cat, a gift from Chiara.
Queenie couldn’t help but wonder, ‘Where’s she at these days?’
She figured Chiara was doing just fine. After all, the Lynch Group was absolutely thriving lately.
‘Queenie, this amount doesn’t look right. Can you check it for me?” Jocelyn asked.
“Which one? Let me see.” Queenie shook her head, snapping out of her thoughts.
That evening, Titus actually left the office on time for once. Quenie and Jocelyn both stood up as soon as they saw him.
“Mr. Goodman?” Queenie called out.
Titus didn’t even spare them a glance as he walked straight into the elevator.
Jocelyn watched the elevator doors slide shut, then let out a sigh “Mr. Goodman’s presence is just so intense. Every time I

see him, I can’t help but get nervous.”

Queenie just gave a wry smile. Yeah, his vibe’s only gotten stronger, but he’s grown even colder and more unapproachable.
‘He never cracks a smile, not even once. I mean, with his wife gole and his kid missing, no wonder he’s got nothing to smile about.’
“Serves him right!” Queenie muttered under her breath.
“Huh? Who are you talking about?” Jocelyn asked, looking puzzled.
“Nobody. Just get back to work.” Queenie shook her head.
“Oh, okay,” Jocelyn replied.
Paul saw Titus coming out and opened the back door of the car for him.
For the past two years, they’d had people tailing Heather and Eunice. But those two never slipped up, not even once.
That left only one possibility: Chiara hadn’t been in touch with them at all, or if she had, they hadn’t actually met up.
Six months ago, Titus had ordered the surveillance to be called off.
Paul couldn’t really figure out why Titus made that decision.
Once they got to the Goodman manor, Titus told Paul to take off for the night.
Paul nodded and drove off, retracing his route.
“Titus is here,” someone shouted.
Everyone on the couch in the living room turned to see who’d come in.
That included the woman sitting next to Adele. She was refined, graceful, and soft-spoken.
She blushed slightly when she saw Titus walk in.
Titus took one look and immediately knew what was up. His brows furrowed, and he nearly turned on his heel to leave.
“Get over here!” Adele called out, catching onto his mood before he could bail.
Titus stayed put, his face icy and distant.
