The word “knockoff” was just too much of an insult. Kara’s face went pale, her eyes reddened, and she looked at Titus with a pitiful, almost fragile expression.
Adele’s face hardened. “What nonsense are you saying?”
Titus’s gaze grew darker. ‘Kara? Or just a cheap knockoff?’ he wondered.
He didn’t buy it, appraising the young, beautiful woman in front of him like she was merchandise.
Honestly, her mannerisms and vibe were pretty similar. At least for a split second when he first walked in, he was thrown off.
“Ms. Serrano, my ex-wife would never look at me with that kind of expression or those eyes,” Titus said.
Kara was stunned for a moment, her eyes drifting to Adele in bewilderment.
Titus gave a wry, almost mocking smile, though it was hard to tell who he was really mocking.
“If she ever felt wronged, she’d just slap me, not play the weak card for a man,” he added.
Kara’s expression shifted suddenly; she bit her lip, determined not to let her tears fall.
But honestly, she did feel a bit wronged. She was handpicked by Adele herself.
She thought she had it all figured out. She knew Titus was still hung up on his ex-wife, so she tried her best to be just like
her.
She’d put in real effort, mimicking every move and every look.
Even Adele said she nailed it, yet Titus still thought she wasn’t convincing enough.
Titus didn’t even bother looking at her anymore. Instead, he glanced up at the second floor. “Don’t you realize I stopped looking for her six months ago?”
Adele actually looked stunned for a second.
“Really? You…” she started, but couldn’t finish.
Titus shot a look at Charlie, who hadn’t said a word, and said, “I’m going to check on Grandma.”
Charlie didn’t say a word. He never thought this was a good idea anyway. ‘Seriously, finding a stand-in? How is that supposed to fix anything?’
Kara bit her lip as she watched Titus’s tall silhouette fade from view, her fingers curling quietly into her palm.
“Adele, did I do something wrong?” she asked, her voice trembling.
Adele shook her head, her tone gentle but distant. “It’s not your ult, Kara. You should head home for today.”
Kara’s eyes dimmed, but she could only nod. As she left, her gaz lingered longingly at the second floor.
‘Who wouldn’t be into a guy like Titus?’ Kara thought to herself.
He was loaded, powerful, and drop-dead gorgeous, with a charn that could make anyone swoon.
Kara clenched her fists, her resolve hardening. She was determined to make Titus see her differently.

Debby was chilling in her rocking chair, listening to old opera tubes, not giving a single thought to whatever drama was happening downstairs. Even when someone came in, she didn’t other opening her eyes,
Titus glanced at Debby and took a seat in the chair across from Her.
“That old radio of yours has broken down so many times. I went all the way overseas and hunted down an identical one for you,” he said.
Debby finally opened her eyes and looked at him. “This was the first gift your grandpa ever gave me. Doesn’t matter how new the replacement is, I’m not switching.”
Titus nodded and poured Debby a glass of water.
Debby looked at him and asked, “You don’t like that Serrano girl do you?”
Titus glanced at her. “No, I don’t.”
Debby nodded, her tone gentle but serious. “You’re already in your thirties. It’s time to think about moving on. Don’t let your parents worry about you.”
Titus paused for a moment at her words.
“Do you still keep in touch with her?” he finally asked.
“No,” Debby replied.
Titus answered quietly, not sure if he really bought it. After finishing his drink, he finally spoke up. “Grandma, I’ve let her go.”
Debby looked over at him. “You really have?”
Titus gave a faint smile. “I have, really. And about moving on, I’m open to it. So please let everyone know, there’s no need to keep picking out candidates for Mrs. Goodman.”
Debby studied him for a long moment before finally nodding. “Alright then.”
Titus stood up. “Try to get some rest, Grandma. I’ll head out now”
Debby didn’t stop him. She watched his back as he left, staying silent for a long moment before finally picking up her phone.
She opened up the latest video.
A joyful voice came, “Come on, say it. No, baby, it’s Grandma. Say it with Mommy again. Grandma!”
“Grandma,” the baby mumbled.
That woman said, “Good job, baby! Let’s say it one more time.”
“Grandma,” the baby repeated.
“You’re so smart, sweetheart.” She giggled softly.
Debby watched the video, grinning ear to ear, though her eyes looked a little wistful. She had no idea when she’d finally get to meet her adorable great-grandchild.
She put her phone aside and glanced at the door, hoping that kid had actually meant what he said.

Only when both of them found their own peace and truly let go would there be a chance, maybe, her precious great- grandchild would finally come home to her.
Titus lingered at the doorway for a moment before heading downstairs. He glanced at his parents sitting on the couch and said, “I’ve already talked to Grandma. You don’t have to worry about me anymore.”
Adele stayed silent, just quietly watched him go.
Charlie glanced at Adele, gave her shoulder a reassuring squeeze and said, “Honestly, we could wait another couple years. No need to stress about it, right? We’re both pretty chill about this, aren’t we?”
Adele shot him a frosty look. “So you’re saying you’re not eager have a grandchild?”
Charlie was speechless, with no words for a comeback.
He rubbed his nose. “Honey, I’m not taking his side, but if he’s not into it, forcing him won’t do any good.”
Adele glared at him, and Charlie quickly added, “That kid’s just like me. Back in the day, I even ran away from my own wedding to be with you.”
Adele snorted. “Spare me your old stories, okay? Don’t tell me you only came crawling back because you found out your ex- fiancée wasn’t actually pregnant. If she had been, would you have ever come looking for me? Yeah, right.”
Another blow for Charlie. He’d only made his defeat worse.
The next day, Paul was called into Titus’s office. “Mr. Goodman, you wanted to see me?”
Titus was standing by the floor-to-ceiling windows, his back to Pul, so Paul couldn’t see his expression at all.
“What was the name of that female celebrity from before?” Titus asked.
