Over the next three months, Titus was caught up in a whirlwind of scandalous romantic rumors.

“Local media reports that Titus Goodman, CEO of Goodman Group, may be in a new relationship with famous actress, Yvonne Watson. The two have been spotted on several dates,” the news anchor reported.
Chiara’s movements faltered for a second as she heard the news on TV.
She set down the rattle in her hand and turned to look at the screen.
The large display showed photos of Titus and Yvonne walking hand in hand, looking close and affectionate as they entered and left a hotel.
Ana glanced at Chiara and quickly turned off the TV.
Chiara was stunned for a good while before she looked away, pretending nothing was wrong. She turned her attention back to Ryan, who was playing on the carpet.
“Ryan, come here. Mommy’s right here. Come to Mommy,” Chiara coaxed gently.
Ryan had just learned to walk, tottering clumsily with a drooly grin, his tiny arms reaching out as he stumbled toward Chiara.
Chiara scooped him up and planted a big kiss on his cheek. “Our little Ryan is awesome!”
Ana breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that Chiara wasn’t affected by the news, then headed back to the kitchen.
“I made pancakes for Ryan’s lunch. For us, it’s grilled ribs and baked cod,” Ana said.
“Say thank you to Ana, Ryan,” Chiara prompted.
Chiara carried Ryan over to the window and gazed out at the endless sea.
This was a little fishing village, the spot where her folks first crossed paths.
That was why she chose to come here.
Cell service here was pretty bad. When it got windy, the signal would go all wonky.
But life out here was laid-back and comfortable.
Honestly, Chiara didn’t really want to leave, but she knew she couldn’t stay forever.
Ryan was about to start kindergarten, and the education here ju wasn’t good enough. Sooner or later, they’d have to head
back to Halinston.
Chiara just wasn’t ready to go back yet, but it looked like the time had finally come.
She set Ryan down, picked up her phone, and made a call.
“Heather, I’m thinking of coming back,” Chiara said.

“Coming back?” Heather echoed.
“Yeah, Ryan’s getting older. He needs to start kindergarten soon.
“You’re right, Heather said after a pause, then asked, “Did you cach the news?”
“Yeah, I saw it,” Chiara said, watching Ryan toddle around on the carpet, her eyes gentle and full of affection.
“Since he’s moved on with his life, I doubt he’ll come looking for me again,” she added.

Heather didn’t say anything. For over three months now, Titus and that actress, Yvonne, had been practically glued together.
He was pouring money into her projects, helping her snag endorsements, and their high-profile antics were all over the
news.
Heather had even heard that Titus blew off a matchmaking dinner Adele arranged for him, all because of Yvonne.
Heather asked, “When are you coming back? I can pick you up.”
“Not sure yet. I’ll let you know when I figure it out,” Chiara replied.
“Okay, I’ll be waiting to hear from you.”
“Alright, bye.”
After hanging up, Chiara let her eyes fall shut for a moment.
She thought, ‘Everything’s in the past now. Everyone has to move forward with their own life. Things are good this way.’
“Ryan, we’re going home soon. Both Heather and Eunice absolutely adore you,” Chiara said softly.
Chiara gave Ryan’s little hand a gentle shake. “And Great-Grandma Debby loves you so much, too.”
Two months later…
“Mr. Goodman, Ms. Watson’s flight lands at two in the afternoon You promised you’d pick her up,” Paul reminded Titus.
Titus glanced at the time and stood up from his chair, his expression cool and distant.
“Let’s go,” he said.
Paul couldn’t help but shoot Titus a look. The gossip about Titus and Yvonne had been everywhere lately. Everyone was talking about it.
Back then, Paul thought he knew what Titus was up to, but that was just at the start.
Now, he wasn’t so sure anymore.
Honestly, Titus had been indulging Yvonne so much that Paul couldn’t even tell if Titus was really into her or just playing along.
Maybe the act wasn’t an act anymore. Maybe they were for real ow.
Yvonne was so bright and gorgeous. What guy wouldn’t be into er?
Paul himself used to be a fan after catching her in a TV drama.
On the way to the airport, Paul kept sneaking glances at Titus in he rearview mirror.

Titus didn’t even look up. He just kept his eyes glued to his table but he could still feel Paul’s curious gaze on him now and
then.
“If you’ve got something to say, just spit it out. Cat got your tonge?” Titus said, not bothering to look
Paul cleared his throat awkwardly. “Mr. Goodman, are you really serious about Ms. Watson?”
Titus finally looked up at him, totally unfazed. “What, you think just putting on an act?”
Paul suddenly went quiet. At first, that was exactly what he thought. But as time went on, he wasn’t so sure anymore.
Titus and Yonne really did share a hotel room, and Paul had eve brought them all the stuff they needed.
Titus personally picked Yvonne up and dropped her off, and he even swing by her film set just to see her.
He never said no to anything Yvonne wanted. Anyone watching would swear he was totally head over heels for her.
But Paul still couldn’t shake off that nagging doubt.
Titus never struck him as the type to fall out of love so quickly.
After a long pause, Paul finally admitted, “I don’t know.”
Titus’s gaze grew heavy as he turned to stare out the window. After a long pause, he finally broke the silence. “Stop trying to figure it out.”
Paul couldn’t help but glance up at the rearview mirror, locking eyes with Titus’s intense, unfathomable stare.
“It’s real,” Titus said.
Paul’s breath hitched, his hands tightening around the steering wheel. It was a long moment before he managed a nod. “Yes, Mr. Goodman, I got it.”
Titus turned his head to the window again, his face detached and his eyes carrying that cool, indifferent look.
The airport was buzzing with people.
Heather kept watching the entrance, worried she’d miss Chiara.
The moment she spotted Chiara, Heather whipped off her sunglasses and rushed over.
“Chiara!” Heather called out.
Chiara’s face broke into a bright smile the moment she saw Heather, and she walked straight over, pulling Heather into a warm hug.
“Heather, I missed you so much,” Chiara murmured.
Heather’s voice trembled with rare emotion. “I missed you so much, too.”
They didn’t need words. They just quietly held each other, letting the moment say everything.
“Where’s Ryan?” Heather asked.
“He’s back there,” Chiara replied.
