Yvonne’s face fell. She grabbed his sleeve and refused to let go, pouting. “What is it? I just got back. Can’t you spend some time with me?”

Titus fixed her with a deep, unreadable gaze and said flatly, “Be good. Let go.”

Yvonne bit her lip. “No, I won’t let go. I want you to stay with me. I missed you.”

Paul, driving up front, didn’t dare say a word, his eyes darting back and forth between the two of them.

Titus gave him a subtle look.

Paul immediately got the hint and turned to Yvonne. “Ms. Watson, Mr. Goodman really does have something urgent tonight. He took some time from his busy schedule to pick you up.”

Yvonne still looked skeptical, her eyes fixed on his face. “Really?”

Paul felt a little guilty. Honestly, nobody could out-act Yvonne, who was already nominated for Best Actress at her age.

Paul nodded solemnly. Just then, his phone started ringing.

He glanced at the screen and answered in a hurry, “Hello? Yes, we’re heading back now. Twenty minutes, max. Got it.”

Paul hung up, frowned, and turned to Titus, looking all business.

“Mr. Goodman, everyone’s there, just waiting for you,” Paul said.

Titus gave a slight nod, then shot a sideways glance at Yvonne, who looked anything but pleased.

“You heard that, right?” Titus said.

Yvonne pouted, finally letting go of his sleeve, though she wasn’t done negotiating yet.

“Then promise you’ll spend tomorrow night with me, okay? I’ll keep myself busy during the day and won’t get in the way of your work,” she said.

Paul shot a glance at Yvonne. She was sharp. She knew exactly when to act cute and when to be sensible.

Like right now…

“I’ll see,” Titus said coolly. “Let’s go.”

“Okay, Mr. Goodman, Paul replied.

Yvonne reluctantly let go, her eyes lingering on the car as it drove away.

She waited until the car disappeared from view before heading to the hotel. She wasn’t in a rush at all.

This time, she was brimming with confidence, knowing she had plenty of time to play things her way.

Paul drove off, not sure where to go. “Mr. Goodman, should we Head back to the villa or the office?”

Nothing was going on at the office today.

Titus didn’t say a word, so Paul just kept driving. He was about te switch lanes and head for the villa when Titus finally spoke up. “Take me to the Lynch residence.”

Paul glanced up at the rearview mirror. He’d kind of expected it

Okay, Mr. Goodman,” Paul replied.

Outside the Lynch residence, Paul killed the engine and parked fight outside the gate, so no one inside would spot them.

Good thing it was autumn already. It wasn’t stuffy at all with the windows down.

Titus lit a cigarette and sat in the back, watching the lights in the villa.

Tonight, the Lynch residence was lit up brighter than ever.

“Looks like the Lynch residence is all lit up tonight,” Paul remarked.

Paul had brought Titus here lots of times before. They’d always just sneak a peek and then leave.

But usually, only the first floor had any lights on. Tonight, though, the whole place was lit up.

Even the second and third floors were blazing with lights.

‘What does this mean?’ Paul mused. ‘It means someone’s home a the Lynch residence tonight. So the woman I spotted at the airport earlier really was Mrs. Goodman.’

Paul slowly glanced up at the rearview mirror.

He kept waiting for Titus to say something. But Titus stayed silent, and Paul started to think maybe Titus had just come to see for himself if Chiara was really back.

Titus started to say, “Check which flight Chiara was on today. An…”

Paul stared at the rearview mirror, straining to catch every word!

Nearly a full minute passed before Titus finally broke the silence his voice deep and commanding. “Notify the train stations, airports, and highways.”

Paul understood instantly. Titus was making sure he had control over everyone coming and going in Halinston.

Is Mr. Goodman worried that Mrs. Goodman might leave Halinton again without anyone knowing?’ Paul thought to himself. ‘But isn’t he with Ms. Watson now? I thought he’d already moved on from Mrs. Goodman.

Paul had his doubts, but he knew better than to ask. All he could do was follow orders.

“Understood, Mr. Goodman,” Paul replied.

They sat there for who knew how long, until the lights on both the first and third floors of the Lynch residence finally went

dark.

“Have a few men stationed here tomorrow to keep an eye on the place,” Titus ordered.

Paul glanced at the Lynch residence’s gate. ‘Does this look like someone who’s really let go?’ he thought to himself.

He nodded. “Should we head back now?”

“Let’s go,” Titus replied.

Chapter 160

When they got back to the villa, Lindsay greeted Titus as soon as she saw him.

“I didn’t expect you back tonight, Mr. Goodman,” Lindsay said.

That made Titus look up at her, a little surprised.

“Where else would I be?” Titus replied.

“I saw a video of you and Ms. Watson at the airport today. I thought you’d be out with your girlfriend, so I didn’t make dinner,” Lindsay said.

Titus narrowed his eyes, glanced at Lindsay, and let out a short, hocking laugh. “I can skip dinner.”

Lindsay was speechless.

Titus shot her a frosty glance and headed upstairs.

Lindsay muttered at his back, “Eat or don’t, whatever!”

Titus pushed open the bedroom door, tossed his jacket aside, and ripped off his tie. He stopped for a moment, staring at the wedding photo above the bed.

He leaned against the doorway, standing there in silence, just staring at the wedding photo. A low, ambiguous chuckle slipped from his lips.

But his eyes were frozen over, completely devoid of warmth, and it was impossible to tell what that coldness in his eyes truly

meant.

Meanwhile, at the Lynch residence, Heather watched Ryan sleep her eyes overflowing with love. She couldn’t resist leaning in and planting a soft kiss on his little face.

Chiara chuckled. “It’s fine. Once he’s out, nothing wakes him up.

Heather smiled, her eyes twinkling. “Ryan’s really such a well-behaved kid, isn’t he?”

Chiara gently stroked Ryan’s tiny hand and tucked a small blanket over him. The room was nice and cozy. There was no need for heavy clothes or thick covers; just a light blanket over his tummy would do.
