Chiara could see through the screen that Debby was dressed neally and looked even more energetic than usual. She knew Debby was eager to see Ryan.

Chiara had planned to let them meet anyway.

“Good morning, Grandma,” Chiara said softly.

“Good, good. Did you two sleep well?” Debby asked.

Chiara smiled gently and nodded. “We slept really well.”

It truly was a good night’s rest. After all, this was her home. This was where she felt she truly belonged.

Even after being away for so many years, nothing else could ever replace the sense of security she felt here. “Ryan, come say hi to your great-grandma,” Chiara called out.

“Great-grandma,” Ryan babbled.

“Oh, my precious great-grandson!” Debby’s eyes crinkled with joy as she looked at Ryan.

“Grandma, let me bring Ryan over to see you today,” Chiara said.

“Okay, sure,” Debby replied.

“Text me your address, and I’ll head over with Ryan soon,” Chiara said.

“Don’t rush, don’t rush. Has Ryan had breakfast yet? Let him eat first, then come over.”

“Got it, Grandma. I won’t let him go hungry.”

“Good, good, good.”

Debby hung up the phone, still buzzing with excitement. When she turned around, she saw Adele standing in the doorway, holding something in a plate.

Adele was staring at Debby in shock. It was rare to see Adele so surprised.

Debby paused, realizing she’d been so caught up in her excitement that she hadn’t even noticed Adele come in.

They stared at each other for a long moment before Debby finally let out a sigh. “Did you hear all that?”

Adele’s hands were shaking as she held the plate. She took a deep breath, closed the door behind her, and walked over.

“Mom, were you just video chatting with Chiara?” Adele asked.

Debby nodded, seeing how worked up Adele was. “Yes.”

Adele was so overwhelmed that she spun around, clutching her hands tightly.

“So that kid just now was…” Adele asked, her voice shaking.

Debby nodded, her expression firm. “Yes. This was Chiara’s interion back then. I respected her wishes, and you need to do

the same.”

Adele calmed down a little as she remembered what happened lack then, but her feelings were still a tangled mess.

“Just how much did she resent Titus to come up with such a huge lie and pretend she had a miscarriage just to fool us?” Adele muttered.

“And you think your son isn’t to blame?” Debby shot back.

Adele didn’t say a word. As she replayed the conversation in her head, her mind started whirring, her gaze shifting as new thoughts formed.

“Mom, are you heading over to see Chiara and Ryan later?” Adele asked.

Debby saw right through her. “Now that you know, if you want to come along, let’s go together.”

Adele’s joy was written all over her face. “I’ll let Charlie know-”

“Wait a second!” Debby called out.

Adele turned to look at her. “What is it, Mom?”

“This stays between us. Don’t tell Charlie.”

Adele froze. “Why?”

Debby’s tone was sharp. “If you hadn’t barged in just now, you’d still be in the dark.”

Adele was left speechless.

She sighed, her voice tinged with bitterness. “Mom, Titus is your grandson. Why are you treating him like an outsider?”

“Then tell me, who should I side with?” Debby retorted.

Adele went quiet.

Debby gave a little snort. “I get to see Ryan every day. How could I possibly be turning my back on my own family?”

Adele was left speechless for a long moment.

“You really are…” Adele started.

Debby gave her a look. “You want to say I’m being unreasonable

Adele shook her head. She wouldn’t dare say that.

Truth was, Adele really did love and respect Debby.

If Debby hadn’t backed her and Charlie all the way back then, Ale probably never would’ve married into the Goodman family.

“Mom, so when are we heading out?” Adele asked.

Debby was speechless.

“Let Ryan finish his meal first. What’s the rush?” Debby said.

Adele glanced at Debby, who was dressed neatly and looked spired, and fell silent.

About an hour later, Adele and Debby were getting ready, each ore meticulous than the other.

Charlie spotted them and couldn’t help but ask, “Mom, honey, where are you two off to?”

Adele gave him a cool glance and said, “Mom wants to go shopping, so I’m going with her.”

Charlie immediately stood up. “Let me get changed. Wait for me

“No need!” Adele hurriedly stopped him. “Today’s just for Mom and me. You just stay home, okay? We’re heading out.”

Adele supported Debby as they headed out the door.

Charlie was left scratching his head, completely confused.

“What’s gotten into those two today? Aren’t they a bit old for a shopping trip?” Charlie muttered to himself.

He just shook his head, flopped back onto the couch, and started studying his chess game again.

About half an hour earlier, Chiara had already headed out with Ryan.

Eunice came to pick them up, and as soon as they met, the two gave each other a big hug.

“I missed you to death!” Eunice blurted out.

Chiara laughed and hugged her back. “I missed you, too.”

Eunice looked down at Ryan in the stroller, her eyes lighting up.

“Ryan, come here and let me give you some kisses.” With that, she scooped Ryan up and planted several big kisses on his cheeks.

Chiara kept smiling. “Alright, let’s get going. We don’t want Grandma to get impatient.”

“Okay, let’s get Ryan into the car. Ryan, I bought a brand new car seat just for you yesterday. Check out your VIP ride, and see if you like it,” Eunice said.

Ryan babbled incoherently.

The three of them were all smiles, their attention completely focused on Ryan.
